Douro Private Full Day Tour - A Day Trip From Porto

We booked this tour as part of a two day experience with Antonio, and he exceeded our expectations! Incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and truly gave us a glimpse into Douro Valley that had us wanting to go back! Antonio also worked with us to customize our itinerary, and was flexible when we needed to make date changes due to work commitments. We would HIGHLY recommend Antonio for your private tour, and would certainly use him again when we come back for other tours.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Antonio. He first took us to the charming village of Amarante, followed by a scenic drive through the breathtaking Douro Valley. We also enjoyed a relaxing boat ride along the river, surrounded by the valley’s rolling vineyards and stunning landscapes. For lunch, we dined at a restaurant overlooking the Douro Valley, where the views were simply spectacular. We chose to skip the wine tasting, and instead Antonio took us to the beautiful Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies in Lamego. Perched high on a hill, the sanctuary is famous for its grand staircase of 686 steps. Fortunately, Antonio drove us up to the church and suggested that we walk down to fully appreciate the scenery—and it was excellent advice. I walked all 686 steps down, enjoying the magnificent views along the way. There were charming fountains where we could stop for a drink of water, as well as beautiful tilework decorating several viewpoints. It was a wonderful and memorable experience. Antonio was an excellent guide, and this tour will be one of the highlights of our trip that I will always remember.

Antonio is knowledgeable and congenial. Our all-day tour was informative and entertaining. A five star experience for sure!

Antonio planned a perfect day for us in the Duoro valley. It was a perfect day of visiting wineries (both a small family-owned one and a big famous one), a boat cruise on the river, a fantastic lunch off the beaten path, etc. Antonio has a detailed knowledge of Duoro and what to see there. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Antonio for any tour you might be considering. He is kind and thoughtful, super knowledgeable, and always willing to build an itinerary that caters to his clients' interests. He also builds strong relationships with people he visits on his tours -- in our case, Antonio had existing relationships with two amazing quintas, a restaurant, and a boat operator to make sure our tour was a memorable one.

We had a wonderful day in the Duoro Valley. Antonio had a well planned and organized day for us. The winery stop was a lot of fun, more than we expected. A very scenic drive, a fabulous lunch, and the river cruise, a lot of fun. Antonio provided a lot of information, about the area, country, and any questions we had. If you have the time, this is a must to experience to add to your Portugal itinerary.
