My name is João, a native son of Porto. I've been a certified Tourism Animator for the last 7 years, a Gentleman Rider for a few decades now and most importantly, in love with my city, her stories and importance in the World history. After a successfull, but not very fullfilling, career in management, I decided to create experiences that would allow me to work on and share my passions: my classic motorcycles, the love of my city, history and storytelling ( yes, I talk a bit!) That combination came together naturally to create my tour experiences that use the old neighborhoods, landmarks, viewpoints and facades to tell you the history and stories of Porto. ( It also allows me to start tours with guests and end with friends. ) My tours focus on: Porto history, local stories, local perspective, locals and their habits, landmarks, vistas; viewpoints, photography and wine tasting. After being a tourism guide for 7 years I realize that meeting new people and seeing them fall in love with Porto is what I really love to do. We will be the only ones exploring Porto aboard our classic sidecar as I'm the only one in Porto doing this experience :) Discover Porto from the perspective of a local and in a sidecar, at a slow pace and with lots of stops for stories, history and photos! Like a walking tour but covering 10x more and looking fabulous while doing it! From our meeting point, down to the river, along the Douro river and across to Gaia. I will use narrow streets, facades and viewpoints with beautiful vistas to tell you the history and local stories of Porto. Now let's cross to Gaia and enjoy one of the best views of the city! We have been lucky to have done many sidecar rides in cities in Europe, but we enjoyed this one the most. We not only saw the sights of the old city and the bridges, but we saw the new and went to the beach. We saw everything including a trip to the market & enjoyed a glass of Porto wine before saying goodbye at our riverboat. If you are thinking this may be too adventurous for you - go & enjoy. ++++++ Absolutely excellent in every way! Joao was the perfect host and tour guide. Since I had seen the main Porto attractions previously, he customized the tour to make it especially for me. I saw many great views and off the beaten path things in Porto. He provided a drink and custard pie at one local cafe. We ended by walking through the Bolhão market and eating fresh cherries. It was the perfect excursion, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, not to mention all of the jealous stares from onlookers!

We had great fun. Our guide João was pleasant and caring. We would maybe wished a longer tour, but overall very nice. The weather helped a lot and we had great stops for pictures. João also recommended a lunch restaurant named Vapor at the Fishermans village Furada, which we enjoyed very much. Great food! Thank you João for the attention and kindness you showed we and my husband on my birthday. It was a birthday to remember! Obrigada.
This was a thrill of a lifetime. I loved my sidecar experience. What a way to see the sights of Porto!! I loved every minute. Joao was a professional, knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humor!
Terrific tour! Joao is a knowledgeable, charismatic, and entertaining guide. He and his assistant, Peter, were excellent drivers and commentators. The experience was exhilarating, and never felt unsafe. The tour included places that were not accessible by car. I highly recommend this activity.
Welcome to Porto! • After we meet i will introduce the sidecar and explain what's our plan. • From there we'll make our way to the river away from the historical center the river, follow the road along the Douro to the ocean with several stops for amazing vistas! • From the mouth of the river we will see neighborhoods like Foz, Miragaia and Massarelos to see how the city grew and the connection to the ocean. • I'll use the facades, monuments and amazing vistas to show you Porto's history and take loads of photos! • After learning about Porto's history, let's cross the river Douro to Gaia and visit Cais de Gaia, the Port wine neighborhood and witness the best views of Porto! • Unfortunately it's time to drop you off wherever you prefer. Room for 2 passengers, one on the sidecar and the other on the back of your private driver/guide.
