Today was magical. Our guide, Diogo, picked us and we headed through town to the coast, stopped at a bar café built into the rocks. The scenery, with ocean waves rolling in against the rocks, was stunning as we sat and chatted with Diogo, during our hour-and-a-half visit over coffee. Then we headed off to a sardine factory for a tour. I know somebody reading this would say, 'Really?' But the sardine factory was absolutely fascinating. They still rely heavily on human labor.. Then we went off to the market, and the fish and produce markets here are fabulous. But there was a twist: after we toured the fish market, Diogo selected, based on our choice of type of fish, the two fish that would become our lunch. The fishmonger cleaned the fish, and then another person delivered the fish to the restaurant in the interior of the market that we selected. We sat there for probably an hour and a half to two hours enjoying the fish, wine, and conversation. It was the kind of tour that we like, where we're not spending the day looking at things as much as we're spending the day enjoying the day.
