We will visit the beautiful city of Aveiro known as the 'Portuguese Venice' due to the canals that cross the entire city. A boat trip on the traditional 'moliceiro' boat and, on a pleasant walk through the historic center to taste the traditional sweets made from the egg yolk 'Soft Eggs'. In a strip of land between the Vouga River and the Atlantic, we will find Costa Nova colored part of the Portuguese coast. This beach is characterized by wooden houses streaked with white and bright colors, formerly old haystacks that served as a warehouse and shelter for fishermen. Vista Alegre Porcelain factory, founded in 1824 and internationally recognized for the quality of its production, we will visit its chapel dating from the 17th century, the museum and the manual painting workshop. The city of Aveiro has always been linked to sea trade, fishing and salt production, so as optional, we can visit the Museum of Cod or a nursery for the production of oysters, clams and cockles.
We had a lovely introduction to “Portuguese Venice” and its history as a fishing village. We also enjoyed the historical porcelain factory and its church, the town of Costa Nova and a traditional Portuguese lunch. Antonio provided a comfortable car, was a safe driver who gave us a lot of valuable history and comment on the entire area. He was also very generous in making suggestions for our further independent explorations in the region.
We loved the tour with Antonio , she was very friendly and knows the whole place very well. Antonio loves what she does and that's why she welcomes all tourists very well. I recommend everyone to have this experience.
