Top Highlights of Douro Valley From Porto Full Day Private Tour

Bruno was one of the best tour guides that we have ever had. We booked a private tour for ourselves and our two kids (15 & 11) and we had such an incredible day. Bruno picked us up in Porto and drove us to the Douro valley where we had a private vineyard visit and tasting of wine and port from a small family Quinta, which was incredibly special because of how small and intimate it was. We had a private boat ride on the Douro, had an incredible local meal for lunch and even got to explore a tiny medieval village that not even many locals know about. We aren’t even wine enthusiasts but we all had such an awesome day. Bruno speaks English very well, his personality is delightful, and his knowledge of history and Portugal is vast. We would book another tour with Bruno in a heartbeat!!

Bruno is outstanding. He is knowledgeable, perceptive and a great communicator. He clearly loves his valley and knows his wines. My only regret was not spending more time with him.

Bruno and this tour were absolutely amazing. Bruno picked us up just as explained and we set off on a never to forget day. From the scenery to the wine and port tasting (at a gorgeous location with a warm host who showed and taught us about the land, the process, and the life of the Douro Valley). We had a wonderful lunch at a restaurant the locals love. Best octopus ever! We made stops to see lovely landmark locations along with a visit to Santuario de Nossa - an amazing Baroque church with gorgeous stonework, tiles, and amost 700 stairs. The best part of the tour was Bruno himself. He was a wealth of information about this area and all of Portugal. He added the perfect amount of personal anecdotes and experiences to bring this amazing country to life for us. When Bruno left us back on time at our final destination we did not feel like we were saying goodbye to a tour guide; we felt like we were saying goodbye to a wonderful new friend. We look forward to bringing more family and friends to travel Portugal with him.

Bruno was an exceptional tour guide. He promptly met us at the gate to the cruise port and showed us to his spacious, clean car. It is a 1.5 hour drive out into the Douro valley, but Bruno kept us entertained with his narration of what we were seeing and what we would be seeing. He was a wealth of information about the development of the wine industry beginning in the mid 1700’s. Our stops for lunch, tastings, and sightseeing were all fantastic. We highly recommend Bruno for your visit to the Douro valley.

It is hard to overstate what a wonderful day my husband and I spent with Bruno learning about the Douro Valley and visiting two amazing small wineries. From the moment he met us at our hotel to bidding him goodbye 9 hours later, we really had a tremendous experience. Bruno is thoughtful, funny, really engaging, and thoroughly prepared. The two wineries we visited were fascinating and lunch was delicious! If we were to come back to Portugal in the future, we'd make a priority of spending time in his good hands.
