My name is Ricardo Manuel and I was born and raised in Porto City. Although tourism changed Porto for the best (in my opinion) for the last 5 years, me and my family had to move out from Porto, into the bush, housing and living costs became very high and we made the choice that we should move out to the countryside. In this last year 2020 and even in 2021 with a pandemic, work just fell down drastically and we had to adapt. Making Port Wine, Muscat Wine and sometimes olive oil in a amatuer way since 2014, this hobbie become my family income. With vineyards and olives fields almost abandoned from the pandemic I rolled up my sleeves and went to work, asking neighbours and friends if I could keep their grapes and olives for harvest time, their answers were immediately YES Dividing my life between Porto and Douro Valley, me and my family feel completely safe, happy and relaxed with this new way of living. We had the most enjoyable day with Ricardo. We visited a lovely private winery for a tasting and had a wonderful lunch with Ricardo's friends and wine expert. Ricardo went way above and beyond with special treats and extras for us. We have traveled extensively and have had many great guides. Ricardo is a highlight in our experiences—highest recommendation.
I couldn’t rate our experience with Ricardo any higher. A 100% honest local who knows his way around. We were in the back of beyond’s of the Douro valley for the day. Fantastic experience. Fantastic wine tasting! You won’t go wrong with Ricardo and any of his recommendations. We were 6. A 14 year old, 18, 2 twenty something’s and 2 adults.
We had an amazing, enjoyable tour with Ricardo. He planned everything so well, it was organized with our requests all accommodated, even more than we asked for. It was a pleasure spending the day with Ricardo and seeing such beautiful vistas without crowds or lineups. Outstanding!
Ricardo was a fantastic guide. From the start, he was super helpful as I needed something customized for the short amount of time we had in Porto and Douro Valley. He was quick in his responses and offered me different options. When we arrived in Porto, he took us to our hotel even though our tour wasn't until the next day. He was great with the kids offering them snacks and juice. Throughout the tour, he was helpful with information and tips. He arranged a wonderful boat tour of the Douro Valley which was beautiful and we also had a super delicious lunch with wine pairing. We loved it! When he found out of itinerary for the rest of our trip, he gave us tips and links for places to check out. I really recommend Ricardo for your next tour. He's a warm and friendly guide!
Incredible day when the Ricardo. Picked us up at our Airbnb. Nice ride to Duoro Valley. Nice small village stop for coffee the to private small vineyard. Wine tour of winery and then extensive tasting of wines and ports with great conversation and wine making history. Winery was tour was with owner of a family winery. Winery was I. The family for three generations. Then to another village for wine tasting and lunch with wonderful couple. Food, wine and conversation terrific. Highly recommend the tour!!
