We traveled to Gdansk and Gdynia to visit the town where my family lived before WWII. We did not expect to find a vibrant, seaside town abuzz with strolling families, outdoor and indoor restaurants, etc. The buildings, destroyed at the end of WWII, have been beautifully restored to their pre-war elegance. Before we arrived our guide Maggie had done extensive research about our family and knew the exact locations of where they lived, where photographs had been taken, what happened to them before and during the war. She grew up in Gdansk and her knowledge of the area is phenomenal. Her English is excellent and she fulfilled all our expectations and more! But if you hire her, put on some good walking shoes because there is a lot to see and Maggie will pack a lot into each day. Overall an A+ guide.

Gdańsk has been very important city for centuries not only in Poland but also in Europe. I would like to take a walk with you along the streets where Polish and European kings, presidents, many famous persons marked their presence. I spent my childhood in the Old City and I had witnessed much important good and bad events. St. Mary's church, the biggest brick church in the world was my parish church. Nowadays you can admire inside the rebuilt great astronomical clock from XV century, old sculptures, frescos and copy of the famous painting of Hans Memling "The Last Judgement". The rebuilt houses belonged in the past to rich patrician families and houses rented by kings visited the town, the Great Armoury with mannerist façade designed by Dutch masters in XVII cent, Mariacka Street, Old Crane from XV cent. on the bank of Motlawa River will take you back to the old times. We will also visit the place of the most important contemporary events for Poland and Europe - Solidarity Square. It cannot be missed.

Maggie gave us a wonderful tour of Gdansk. With a group of 6 we appreciated the ease and convenience of visiting this popular city. We travelled in a very nice van with a good driver. Our tour started at 7:00am, but first arriving at Solidarity Square all by ourselves was a profound experience. This tour is highly recommended and a very good value for cruise ship passengers. The organ concert in Oliwa cathedral was a highlight.
Maggi had a nice van and driver, and worked very hard to score some very special experiences for us in Gdansk- including a photo op with the mayor! She's very energetic and fun to be with.

The program can be modified according to your request and the entrance to other chosen objects like: Main Town Hall, Amber Museum, Uphagen House, National Maritime Museum, Archeological Museum, the permanent exhibition in European Solidarity Center, WWII Museum or other can be included, if time alows. Please note that museums are closed on Monday and Main Town Hall or Artus Court can be closed due to official meeting and St. Mary's Church due to special masses.
