Pachacamac - Lima's Archaeological Treasure

I had an excellent experience touring Pachacamac with Renzo. From the outset, he demonstrated great judgment and professionalism by suggesting an alternative nearby meeting point to avoid congestion at the original location—making the start of the tour seamless and stress-free. He expertly navigated Lima’s notoriously challenging traffic in a new, comfortable, air-conditioned SUV, which made the journey to and from the site both efficient and pleasant. At Pachacamac, Renzo provided thoughtful and engaging commentary that went well beyond the archaeological highlights. He offered deep insights not only into the site itself, but also into Lima’s broader history, recent political developments, and current social and economic conditions—all in clear, fluent English. Renzo was really wonderful. He got in touch with us in advance to tweak our tour agenda, as a bridge to Pachacamac was closed, and we could not access it. Instead he took us to another temple, and then to a fishing town, where we enjoyed a seafood lunch fresh from the Pacific! He is so informed, and very accessible and friendly -- we enjoyed his company on all levels! We had our tour in English, and appreciated his language skills.

We originally booked a 4 hour tour to the Pachacamac archiological site from our hotel in Lima. We learned in advance that access to the site was interrupted by a road closure and we were contacted in advance by our guide Renzo, who provided us with some options. This turned out to be fortuitous, since we toured the Huaca Pucllana instead, followed by a combined driving / walking tour of Barranco and lunch at a local restaurant. Renzo is the consummate professional guide. His English language skills are flawless and, since we speak little to no Spanish, much appreciated. He is a serious student of antiquity and his depth of knowledge of pre-Columbian cultures is outstanding. He patiently and authoratatively answered our every question. A Lima Peru native, his knowledge of past and contemporary Peruvian culture, history, architecture economics and cuisine is wncyclopedic.

Renzo was very knowledgeable. He showed us interesting areas of south Lima. The tour of Pachecamac was interesting too. I’d definitely recommend Renzo.
