We go in North directión to get Panamerican Highway. A cloudy desert shows us the influence of the Humboldt sea current in peruvian Coast, then we see some fields. After some hours of trip, we take a detour in direction to the archeological complex. Caral is one of the oldest cities in the world (3000 B. C. ) and the oldest one in América continent, it's placed in the select group of the most ancient civilizations of the planet: China, Egypt, Mesopotamia and India. In Caral we'll see some truncated pyramids with upstairs, important to get the top of each one for making rituals. Altars of Fire indicate us that some objects and remains of animals were burned during special ceremonies as long as the high class was in meetings at the Amphitheaters. Made of stones and mud, Caral have withstood many earthquakes, for that, it was investigated by some japanese universities to know why is indestructible. In Huacho city we have lunch that is included. We back Lima city.
Alfredo was really well prepared.. he gave us a lot of informations in the car… each time the driver had to stop to the gas station, he asked us if we needed something. So he likes to take care of his client. On Caral, Alfredo has a lot of things with him to explain us better the history of this site. He brought us to another site as an extra… and the lunch was so delicious. Alfredo is a really good guide !!!
Amazing site in an otherworldly desert landscape. Very knowledgeable guide. We also stopped at Banduria, which is worth a visit.

We had a wonderful tour! He & his driver picked us up in a very comfortable passenger van. He began with some history of the surrounding area in Lima, & began to set the stage for our visit to Caral. Alfredo presented a good balance of sharing info & giving us time to take in the scenery as we drove. We arrived at Caral & he navigated the site seamlessly along with an official site tour guide. He speaks excellent English & was able to interpret her presentation for us as well. Highly recommend!!!
This is a full day tour north of Lima and requires a lot of travel time. Our guide Alfredo and driver Carlos made the journey all the more interesting by providing related commentary along the route. Before we arrived at Caral we learned a lot about Peruvian culture and some of the current goings on. We were able to take our time at Caral and were impressed by our local guide's knowledge and enthusiasm for the story behind the ruins. The site of this 5,000 year old civilization is amazing.
