We will walk on a tour that will include some of the important historical stages in the development of Oslo, older parts and new parts, and we will also see some main national buildings and institutions. Oslo is an old city and has a long history, founded around 1000 A.D., in the later part of the Viking age. The name of Oslo originally probably meant «The plain of the Gods». Just above these plains there are hills and beautiful surroundings. Since then the city has developed until today to become a modern city, but still older parts still remains. Oslo is unique with all cultural and urban activities combined with easy access to the sea and to the hills and large forest around it. There are very few, if any, with this unique combination. I am a dedicated Osloguide born and grown up in Oslo where I have lived all my life. I have lived in almost all parts of Oslo, representing a large variery of social and economic living conditions.
We will walk through these parts of the city: -The Quadrature - built after the fire in 1624 -The main pedestrian street Karl Johans gate with the national historical buildings: —The Royal Palace —The old part of the University of Oslo —The Parliament —Oslo City Hall -Modern City development: —1980s - Aker brygge and Tjuvholmen —2010-2025 - Bjørvika/Sørenga —The Opera House As with every Toursbylocals tour, this tour is of course customisable. Please contact me using the orange button to discuss this. This tour does not include a stop for lunch, however, if you like to factor that in, please contact me. Otherwise I will be happy to recommend some amazing places for the best of Norwegian or other cuisine.

1 Johanne Dybwads plass, Oslo, 0161 Norway
The National theatre is located very close to the exit of Nationaltheatret metro station. Coming out of the metro station, you look straight on the back of the theatre building. This is also a stop for several bus lines and tram lines.
