My name is Lene, I'm 59 years old and born in Oslo. I'm educated as an engineer with a degree within economics, and got my diploma as an Authorized Oslo Guide in the year 2000. I have worked with tourists for 26 years now, and my favorite tours are the customized ones. I love to show my city and the sorrundings from all different angles - through history and storytelling, foodtasting, museums and streetart, crime- and ghostwalks, and everything that has to do with nature (walks, hikes and bicycle tours). I'm passionate about my work, and love getting in contact with people from all over the world. I like to tell the history in my way, sharing personal stories from my own life and my parents / grandparents life (I'm the 3.generation from Oslo). Funny or horrible stories are also a part of it, so that you maybe remember something when you come home... :) In Norway you need a professional driver license to drive guests for payment. My tours are either by public transportation, by foot or bike, or we can hire a car with a driver.

I will take you on a walk through our 1000 years of history, from the ruins of the former middelage city to the new Oslo fiord city coming up. During our time together there are some alternative experiences you can add if you want: * A small break at one of our local cafees, with a little something to eat/drink. I recommend our coffee (the Norwegians are a coffee drinking population), a tea or a freshly squeezed juice, together with muslibread with our famous brown goat cheese * A visit to the Nobel Peace Center where you'll learn about Alfred Nobels life, the Peace prize and last years winner (entrance fee is not included) * Another place for a small break is the oldest restaurant in Oslo, Engebret, where you can try the best hot chocholate in Norway (it's very cozy and hard to leave this place ;-)
On this tour we'll walk past historic buildings and see the changing in arcitecture. I'll tell you about the vikings and the norse mythology, kings and queens, how the citizens strived during the middelage, our independence-periode, the 2. world war and how life in Norway is today. Some of the highlights you'll see is: - the oldest parts of our city, including the Akershus fortress and Christiania - the City hall, where the Nobel Peace Prize is handed out every year - our main street, Karl Johan, from the Royal Palace in one end to the Central station in the other - the National theatre, the University of Oslo, the Grand hotel and the Norwegian Parliament - the new Opera house, where you can walk on the roof. . .
