My name is Lene, I'm 60 years old and born in Oslo. I'm educated as an engineer with a degree within economics, and got my diploma as an Authorized Oslo Guide in the year 2000. I have worked with tourists for 26 years now, and my favorite tours are the customized ones. I love to show my city and the sorrundings from all different angles - through history and storytelling, foodtasting, museums and streetart, crime- and ghostwalks, and everything that has to do with nature (walks, hikes and bicycle tours). I'm passionate about my work, and love getting in contact with people from all over the world. I like to tell the history in my way, sharing personal stories from my own life and my parents / grandparents life (I'm the 3.generation from Oslo). Funny or horrible stories are also a part of it, so that you maybe remember something when you come home... :) In Norway you need a professional driver license to drive guests for payment. My tours are therefor either by public transportation, foot or bike, or we can hire a car with a driver.

Overview of your Oslo tour

Do you want to experience a walk in the Norwegian forest? To see the beautiful nature, visit a cottage with freshly baked food, and search for the Norwegian trolls? Or is it more exciting with a street-art walk in a non-turistical part our city? To see the difference between the east and the west? It's also nice to go crazy among our museums, f. ex visit four of them at the peninsula Bygdøy. Here you find the Norwegian Heritage museum, the FRAM museum and the Kontiki museum. And maybe combine this with at lunch at the little island, Lille herbern, with the shortest ferry-trip in Norway? Or what about a ghost-walk, in the old city?? You descide!

Communication was great from the beginning. I sent Lene a message with our time in port and a list of things we wanted to see. She suggested we book the 5-hour Create Your Own Personal Tour. She was waiting at the cruise dock when we disembarked. We purchased the Oslo pass that covered all museum entrance fees and public transportation, including the ferry. First, we visited City Hall and saw the Great Room where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded. The Fram Museum, was fantastic. The bravery of those explorers is difficult to comprehend. It was great to have a guide there. Otherwise, the two men in our group would have spent hours reading every word and we did not have the time for that. Next, we visited the Folk Museum. This would have been overwhelming without a guide. The Gol Stave Church there is not to be missed. The Vigeland Sculpture Park is outstanding. Photos do not do it justice. It is another must-see attraction in Oslo. The last point of interest was the tiger statue. Our foursome had a personal reason for wanting to take a photo with it. We not only had our personal guide, but also our personal photographer. We actually went a little over 5 hours, but Lene made sure we saw everything on our list. The information she provided everywhere added so much. Going to look at these things on your own would still be nice, but a much lesser experience. I would highly, highly recommend hiring Lene as your personal guide in Oslo. She was incredible and really enriched our day there.

Lene is a spectacular guide! It can be such a toss-up whether a tour guide’s personality will actually mesh with your own, but Lene felt like a natural fit from the start. She thoughtfully customized our Oslo tour based on our interests and, most importantly, adapted to our laid-back pace. Her local knowledge is deep and fascinating, sharing things you just won't find on your own. Our tour felt like we were exploring the city with a friend. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!

We enjoyed our tour of Oslo by Lene so much! She met us at our hotel and took us all over the city. It was definitely a highlight of our trip to Norway. She had great suggestions for dinner that night and for lunch to take on the train the next day. Lene was very knowledgeable of the culture and history of this country. We especially enjoyed the fish soup, Viking ship museum, and sculpture gardens. She also suggested the view from the Opera House. We felt like a friend was showing us Oslo!

Your Oslo tour itinerary

Suggested itinerary: The streetart walk is quite new, because until recently we have had zero tolerance politics towards tagging, grafitti and outdoor wall paintings in our capital. Now they have opened up, and the tour will give you another perspective of our city, listening to the voices of the street. . Or choose upon customization the following itineraries: A walk in the forest is a very autentic experience, because this is how we often spend our sparetime in Norway. We can walk on foot, go by bicycle or by cross county skies. I'll tell you about the nature and our fairytales, while we enjoy food outside or at one of our cottages. The museum trip is a nice dig into our polar/adventure history, and a visit to the first open air museum in the world! The ghost walk takes you to the dark and horrible side of the oldest parts of Oslo, including the Akershus fortress; suitable for both adults and children
