My name is Judith and I am an Authorized Oslo Guide who would like to show you Norway's capital! I really enjoy showing visitors not only Oslo's highlights - those must sees - but the "off the beaten path" sights as well. I can arrange themed walking tours, tours using public transportation, shore excursions, and also tours which provide private transportation. As an educator for many years in Norway, all of my tours can be personalized to meet any special interests you may have. My background is both American and Norwegian. I came to Norway in the 1970s looking for my roots, which I found, and I fell in love with this country. In 1985, I settled here with my family. Oslo is an exciting, dynamic capital city which I know well but I have also travelled to all corners of this little country - on land and by sea! I am particularly interested in showing Norwegian-Americans the city of Oslo and helping those visitors learn more about the culture and history of not only the capital but of Norway, too. My personal experience growing up as a Norwegian-American, will enable me to help customize tours to those of you wanting to learn more about your heritage. My other tours focus on topics which I am particularly interested in which includes World War II - The Occupation Years and also Jewish History in Norway. Judith was an outstanding tour guide. My husband and I took an “Off the beaten Path” tour with her, which included various interesting neighborhoods which we would not have found ourselves. Her knowledge of Norway’s history was unparalleled; her sense of humor was enlightening; and she had a sincere concern regarding breaks, rest stops, etc. We would highly recommend her for any tour of Oslo.
We spent an entire day with Judith on a car trip to Heddal Stave Church, which has a connection to my family. She prepared for the trip by reading about my family and provided insightful comments on the history and geography of the countryside we drove through. Judith is a creative and very knowledgeable guide and is just a fun person to be with!

Judith gave us a WONDERFUL 4.5-hr tour of two sights in Oslo: Norsk Folkemuseum & Frognerparken. She guided us through both venues with expert knowledge. At the museum, she ensured we didn't miss a live Norwegian folk dancing demonstration and special treat of lefse (fresh-baked unleavened bread). Among buildings toured, the Gol stave church was a highlight. At the park, we learned about the visionary Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland as we walked the central part of this unique 111-acre estate together.
A 5-hour tour strolling and using public transportation: - Norwegian emigration during the 1800s and early 1900s - Amerikalinjen - the "America boats" - Harbor Promenade - The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History (often called the "Folk Museum") - Stave Church from the Middle Ages - Folk dancing (summer only) and lefse! - Bus or ferry to city center - Oslo City Hall (if not closed due to civic function) As an extra highlight, you could consider a visit to the National Museum to see some select paintings. Public transportation to the Folk Museum will be by bus. Harbor ferry to return to harbor (summer only) which give a nice view of the Akershus Fortress and Aker Brygge (wharf).
