Hi I'm Andrew. I've been guiding in Norway for over 30 years and have been an authorized Oslo guide since 2006. Guiding is in my blood and the most enjoyable work I have done. I love walking around Oslo in my free time and feel privileged to be able to show people what I believe to be the greatest city to live in (I've been to over 75 countries and haven't found a better place). There's something in this city for everyone; world class art, significant historical sites and great nature within walking distance of downtown. I pride myself on being able to relate to and meet the interests of a wide variety of people and will happily customize your tour to meet your needs. A few words about my background. I grew up in the US and first visited Norway when hitchhiking around Europe when I was 19. Enchanted with the country, I came back to study at the University of Oslo, where I got my undergraduate degree. After graduate school in the US, I returned to Norway and taught at the law school here for over 20 years. I now have spent the majority of my adult years in Oslo and am a Norwegian citizen. If you have access to iFit, you can see 3 Oslo cultural walking tours I did for them. Authorized Oslo guide since 2006 Guide in Norway and Scandinavia since 1986 Lectured at the University of Oslo Law School for over 20 years I'm an authorized guide and can guide in all museums, except for the Munch Museum where some restrictions may apply. I would not be able to be your driver in Oslo, but I could arrange for a limo or taxi for part or all of your tour.

Overview of your Oslo tour

This tour is for those that want to maximize their time in Oslo. I'll customize your itinerary to prioritize the museums and sights you want to see. You'll see the major downtown sights, such as the Royal Palace, Norwegian Parliament, the City Hall, and the Oslo Opera House as well as choose the museums that interest you most. In Bygdøy, there's the Polar Ship Fram Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum and the open-air Folk Museum with a stave church from the 1200's. We can also go further afield and see the Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Holmenkollen Ski Jump. After hearing your interests and energy level, I will make a suggested itinerary that meets your needs, for either a fast paced tour or one at a more leisurely pace. You can choose how much time you want to spend at each museum, seeing just the highlights or going more in depth.

From the moment we met Andrew, we knew we were in for an enjoyable day! We were eight of us and he arranged luxury transportation for us with a very personable and capable driver, Ronnie, for the day. He arranged a wonderful itinerary for us. We visited the Opera house and while walked up it, he discussed the architecture, buildings around the city and life in general there. We toured the city while he pointed out the main buildings. After visiting the ski jump we ate a delicious lunch in a cafeteria there. Later we walked through the Vigeland Sculpture Park as Andrew talked to us about the artist’s vision. We ended our day at the National Museum of Art where we saw Edvard Munch’s famous “The Scream” painting as well as other famous artist’s work. I highly recommend hiring Andrew as your guide so that you can experience a great day in Oslo!

Andrew was a wonderful guide and provided an outstanding overview of the city of Oslo. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and fun. Prior to our arrival, Andrew reached out to me several times to make sure the itinerary included everything we wanted to see. Andrew even went out of his way to help me track down a particular item I collect from each city we visit. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day touring Oslo with Andrew and would highly recommend seeing it with him.

We had a great day in Oslo touring with Andrew. We were a large family group with a wide age range from 16 to 86 and different mobility abilities. The entire process of communication, creating, and booking our day was easy. Andrew was easy to find and waiting for us at the train station. He had arranged a comfortable minibus for our day and the driver was equally as nice and knowledgable. I think we saw and packed as much in one day as we possible could. Andrew was such a wealth of knowledge and could easily speak on any topic from history to pop culture to art to every day life. We were able to allow the whole family to enjoy the beautiful city with Andrew being able to plan the day out but also make changes quickly to accommodate any mobility needs that would come up.
