Jewish heritage tour, Walking tour in Oslo

I arrived in Oslo at noontime, and met Rami in my hotel lobby that afternoon. He showed me everything that could possibly be of interested to a frum (Orthodox) Jew, and customized the tour for me. He taught me alot about the history and slow development of Norway's Jewish community, its leading personalities and rabbis, and explained what happened to Jews in Oslo during the Holocaust. He took me into the main shul (synagogue) - which is not open to the general public - and showed me graves of key figures in local Jewish history. I had a great afternoon with Rami, the first Azerbaijani Jew I have ever met.

The tour provider was on time, communicated effectively and showed a great deal amount of knowledge of the material. He was personable and worked with with the tour provider from the previous day so that we did not see the same thing in Oslo twice. If you have any interest in the Jewish History you will enjoy this tour.

Rami provided a sobering look at the Jewish experience in Oslo. Using photos and a personal narrative, he weaved together the lows and highs of Jewish life in the past, and in the present. He took great care to provide for the needs of our group. Chuck M.

Definitely worthwhile if you have an interest in Jewish history. There's not that much of it in Norway perhaps compared to some other European countries, but Rami covers it all very nicely. He was very accommodating in terms of scheduling and adapting our trip to the needs of the group. We learned a lot about Norway and Norway's Jewish history. Rami is not originally Norwegian, so he has a very objective perspective on the country.
