My name is Judith and I am an Authorized Oslo Guide who would like to show you Norway's capital! I really enjoy showing visitors not only Oslo's highlights - those must sees - but the "off the beaten path" sights as well. I can arrange themed walking tours, tours using public transportation, shore excursions, and also tours which provide private transportation. As an educator for many years in Norway, all of my tours can be personalized to meet any special interests you may have. My background is both American and Norwegian. I came to Norway in the 1970s looking for my roots, which I found, and I fell in love with this country. In 1985, I settled here with my family. Oslo is an exciting, dynamic capital city which I know well but I have also travelled to all corners of this little country - on land and by sea! I am particularly interested in showing Norwegian-Americans the city of Oslo and helping those visitors learn more about the culture and history of not only the capital but of Norway, too. My personal experience growing up as a Norwegian-American, will enable me to help customize tours to those of you wanting to learn more about your heritage. My other tours focus on topics which I am particularly interested in which includes World War II - The Occupation Years and also Jewish History in Norway. Take a look at my tours and see what interests you! Remember that all tours can be personalized. After 25 years of teaching at the high school/upper secondary level in and around Oslo, I am now a full-time tour guide. Therefore, I look forward to showing you Norway's capital city any time of the year. Contact me about dates and tours so that I may help you plan and experience the perfect visit to Oslo or surrounding areas! My calendar is updated regularly but please contact me about your travel dates if you have any questions. - A very proud holder of Oslo's Tourist Guide Authorization - Teacher for 25 years at the high school/upper secondary level - Travel coordinator for student history trips within Europe focusing on World War II - B.Sc. Cornell University - College of Agriculture & Life Science - Certified International Childbirth Educator I am not a professional driver but if you prefer to have a tour with a private car and driver, please contact me about this option.

This tour is a great way to see and experience Oslo and you will experience some of the "must sees" during your stay. We will travel by tram and bus to the places you should not miss on a visit to Norway's capital. You will experience the city as a local does. We will be walking through Oslo and Norway's history as we wander throughout the city - from the Viking Age to the modern capital city you see today. To save time and many steps, we will also be "hopping on and off" trams and buses which enables us to see and experience more of the city. A stroll through Vigeland Sculpture Park is a must while in Oslo. This tour includes a guided walk in this very unique park. It is a highlight! The park has the works of Gustav Vigeland. We will use an hour or so to enjoy this public park. Please let me know if you have any mobility issues and I will adjust our route accordingly. This tour has a nice, comfortable pace.
A 6-hour tour moving through the city using our public transportation system. The tour will include the following but not necessarily in this order: - Ekeberg Ridge - Bjørvika: Norwegian Opera and Ballet, Munch Museum, and Deichman City Library are located here - Kvadraturen neighborhood - from new to old - Christiania Square - Akershus Fortress area - from the Middle Ages to World War II - Karl Johans gate with its historical buildings: Parliament, University Square, National Theatre and Royal Palace - Oslo City Hall (inside if not closed due to a civic function) - Aker Brygge/City Hall Plaza area - Vigeland Sculpture Park We will also have a stop or two for coffee/beverages and to try a Norwegian pastry or perhaps a traditional sandwich for a local experience! The tour ends by the Aker Brygge which is near the new National Museum and the Nobel Peace Center. These are both worth a visit. Suggestions for other things to do for the remainder of your visit will also be given, of course!
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
Public transport - trams and buses. To save some steps and cover a larger area of the city, we will use the local trams and buses. Move around the city like a local!
