My name is Mari Atlanta and I have been an authorized, happy guide in Oslo since 2011. Guiding is great fun and nearly an adiction for me. The best walks are the personal walks. I do my best every time to tailor personal tours meeting the spesific interests of my guests . From 2011 I have done general Oslo guiding and my own specialized tours (Crime walks, family tours). It would be my pleasure to show you the streets, museums, rivers, nature, history, art, shops, jewlry, handikraft, eating places and architecture of beautiful Oslo. Apart from being a general Oslo guide, I also specialized myself arranging weekly "Harry Hole crime walks" since 2011. Harry is a fictional police officer and there are eleven crime books written by Jo Nesbø. Nesbø is Norway's most earning writer ever. In my guiding career, I have initiated weekly family walks on different topics, suitable for children in the age group four to twelve, which can be tailored for older children/teenagers. I am one of the few guides in Oslo specializing in family guiding. In addition to these fixed walking tours, I can adapt any kind of tours you might wish to be good for children, teenagers, and their families. I would be pleased to be your guide on family tours, crime walks, city walks, in the sculpture Vigeland park and to the charming little city of Drøbak- all mentioned on this TBL site. If you have other wishes of things you would like to experience while staying in Oslo I am pretty sure I could take you there. I am a third generation Oslo citizen and I can proudly say that I know almost every corner in my city! I love living in Oslo and telling others about my favorite city. I have no plans of moving elsewhere! I retired from my teaching job this year (May 2017) after many years in school work, to be able to focus only on guiding. I used to work at Oslo International School teaching Norwegian language and culture for the last 10 years. And this is probably what boosted my passion for languages, history, and culture and the relationship between them! Some of my guests thought that I was a history teacher while I was guiding them! I can conduct tours both in Norwegian and English. I lived in the UK as a teenager and you will recognize a thick English accent :) I have always been active in social projects and organizations and been engaged in the changes and policies in my city and country. I am not the only full-time tour guide, I am also a full-time grandmother, I have five grandchildren, they are in schools and kindergartens. Some fun facts about myself, my middle name is Atlanta. I was given this name because I in 1950 was the youngest baby to cross the Atlantic ocean on the Norwegian America line. Like nearly all Norwegians I have relatives «over there» i. e. in North America and would love to tell you why they moved. Certified teacher in Norway and teacher for special needs (including hearing impaired) Authorized Oslo guide Oslos Harry Hole- Crime walk guide Specialist in family walks meeting different ages A guide that tailors YOUR tour to meet your interests - I cannot guide inside the Kings palace and the Opera house of Oslo because they have their own guides, but I can assist you with the booking. - I can arrange longer tours in cars/minivans with a driver.

All the sculptures in the Vigeland park are designed by Norway's most famous sculptor Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943). They show humans of different ages and sizes. The sculptures are often in groups showing our different ways of communicating - good and bad contact, loving, passive, active and aggressive attitudes. We know that Gustav Vigeland was inspired by mythology and legends witch inspires your guide to make links. Hence I refer to the stories of H, C Anderson, the Grimm brothers, 1001 nights, and Norwegian fairytales. We also link the tour to Greek mythology associating with among others Hercules and the scary labyrinth at Crete.
- The Vigeland park (Oslo's largest) among many statues designed by Gustav Vigeland. - Courtyard of The Museum of Oslo, pass the lake seeing active bird life including swans. - Crossing over the river and waterfalls to reach the highest point in the park. - The Monolith is Norway's largest sculpture depicting 121 inter-tangled people climbing upwards on each other. - Illustrated labyrinth and mythological reliefs around the large fountain.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
