Day Trip to Chichen Itza from Playa del Carmen

Cesar was everything I had hoped for and more. I wanted to take my 18 year old son to Chichen Itza and to a cenote while avoiding the crowded tour bus scene as well as have a more one on one education about the ruins. I knew my son would tune out if he couldn’t hear, was hot and/or tired. Cesar was able to go at a pace that worked, find shade and allow him to ask whatever questions came to mind. It was perfect. Cesar is very knowledgeable and speaks English extremely well. And he found the perfect cenote! No tour bus lines! It was amazing and beautiful! He was open to stopping wherever we needed or wanted to on the way back - and even found a pharmacy and helped me find bandaids for my blistered feet (from a previous activity). He is informative, kind, helpful, punctual, flexible….can’t say enough positive things! I wholeheartedly recommend him.

We had an amazing day out with Cesar - he was so knowledgable, kind and accomodating. We started off early for Chichen Itza, arriving before the crowds, visiting both the north and south site, which were truly amazing. Cesar had more info on his iPad, which just gave us that extra insight and of course with just 3 of us we could stay or move on as we wished. Lunch stop was at an excellent local restuarant in Valladolid where we tried dishes we probably wouldnt have ordered without Cesar! We skipped the cenote swim in preference for Ek Balam and that was completely the right decision. This is an earlier site, in a woodland setting where you could climb one of the temples. Cesar was so informative and seeing both sites gave us an excellent overview of the Mayan dynasty. Our family whole heartedly would recommend Cesar for a wonderful, immersive experiece. Cesar was outstanding. He had so much interesting knowledge about Chichen Itza and he was so patient with all of the questions posed by our group (of 4). We probably spent way more time at the site than others and his stories were so interesting that the time flew by. I highly recommend booking a tour with Cesar if you are interested in learning much about Chichen Itza.

We had a great day with Cesar, he was very knowledgeable about the local area and the history. We were able to get to Chichen Itza before it got too crowded and he showed us a lot of the history with supplemental pictures on an iPad. We wanted a quick lunch so we stopped for tacos in a local town, no other tourists around. Then we also went to Ek Balam which was awesome and different from Chichen. Cesar had a lot of good information and history about Ek Balam as well. Cesar was a good driver and fluent in English. We were well taken care of, I would hire him again and recommend him to others.

We had a perfect day and Cesar was a wonderful guide! 4 people in their 60's. Picked up from hotel on time. Headed to Chichen Itza. Interesting conversation in the car. Mexican economy, politics and what's a good tequila or mezcal. Got there in good time .. rest stops when needed. Coaches through getting tickets and then we spent as much or as little time at Chichen Itza as we wanted. Good knowledge about the history and Cesar brought a tablet with extra images to explain things. Found shade and provided water when needed. We then wanted lunch and headed to Valladolid. A beautiful town with colourful buildings and history. Went to a nice restaurant, reasonable prices and delicious Mexican food. Stopped to see a cenote, decided not to swim, took some photos and headed back to resort. More good conversation and back in time for our dinner reservations.

What a great day! Cesar is amazing. Chichen Itza stories and history were very interesting, Cesar offered insights we would otherwise not been aware of. Our lunch stop was perfect and the Cenote visit - so much fun! As luck would have it, we ended up with private time at the cenote as we were the only ones there when we stopped. We cannot recommend Cesar enough, Fabulous day in Yucatan and Cancun.
