Welcome to Mexico! I am Diego a certified private tour guide in the Riviera Maya specialized in Mayan archaeology, nature and adventure. I was born and raised in Chiapas, Mexico, a place surrounded by natural beauties and indigenous communities. I remember that since I was a little child, I dedicated myself to explore the most beautiful corners of my country: rivers, waterfalls, archaeological ruins and climbing volcanoes. Now my job is to share these experiences with others and to raise awareness in preserving our natural resources. Life took me to many places, and 12 years ago I decided to move to Playa del Carmen looking for a relaxing life near the beach. It is beautiful to live here, surrounded by culture, cenotes and the most beautiful beaches of Mexico. Since I arrived here I have worked as a tour guide, a very noble work and I love it. I have guided tours to Mayan ruins, underground caves, Mayan communities, jungle tours with activities like canopy, rappel, ATVs, snorkelin and I had the opportunity to take the great travel writer Rick Steves on two amazing tours here in Riviera Maya! I have learned a lot about the Mayas, their flora, fauna, medicinal plants. I have even learned to speak their local language Maya Yucateco. Now I want to share all these life experiences with you through my private tours, taking you to unique places, giving you the best of the Mexican Caribbean in your next vacation! I highly recommend taking a tour with Diego! From pick up at our hotel through the drop off he made the day enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable and doesn’t just throw facts at you, he asks questions to get you involved. The experience is very personalized for your group. Diego gave us a very well thought out, fun and informative tour. His educational background in anthropology was clearly excellent. Lunch was spectacular. And wow, the private cenote at the end was simply magical. Would recommend him 10/10.
We highly recommend Diego. From the time we entered his vehicle, we found that he had vast knowledge and experience of the entire area and the Mayan culture. During our two hour drive to Chichén Itzá, we spoke about several subjects from Mexican culture, everyday life in Mexico and the Mayan culture. During our conversation we discovered that he studied archeology and astronomy which explains why we felt as if we received our money’s worth for the tour before we arrived at the Chichén itza parking lot. He also kept our schedule ahead of the big tour bus crowds. Diego’s Chichén Itzá, Valladolid tour exceeded our expectations.
Diego was amazing! He was so knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and history that he filled the 2 hour drive to chitcheniza with facts and theories. He is very personable, friendly, and considerate. After the tour of chichenitza we went to a great spot for lunch for in vallendo. The food was excellent! He also took us to a cenote at a private location which was breathtaking. The cenote was at the bottom of a cave, about 100 feet below the surface. We swam and got some great pics. Definitely book with Diego!
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed spending a full day with Diego on the tour of Chichen Itza, Valladolid and beautiful cenote! We were a group of 10 adults and we were easily and comfortably accommodated in his van. He made us all feel welcome - lots of great cultural and historical info, snacks and drinks during the drives - and he adapted the itinerary to suit our needs. His is very knowledgeable and enjoyable be with. We highly recommended this tour!
We had such a brilliant day with Diego. Everything was as described, he was so friendly and knowledgeable and really brought to life the Mayan culture and civilisation. Lunch was fantastic and the visit to the cenote was simply mind blowing. The tour is a memory that we will keep with us and we are so glad we included it in our trip to Mexico.
• 7:00 - Pick up at your Hotel or location in a private vehicle. • Drive to Chichén Itzá (2h). • 9:00 - Guided tour in Chichen Itza with my extensive experience in the area and about the Mayan culture, it will take us around 2h30m to explore the whole place. • 12:00 - Drive to Valladolid colonial town (40m). • 12:40 - In Valladolid we will start with food first in a delicious local restaurant, then we will explore the town, I can take you to see Mayan handcrafts, try the delicious local chocolate(*cacao was discovered in mexico), visit the temple of San Servacio, maybe a Tequilla or Mezcal bottle? whatever you want tell me and we will find it. • 14:00 - Drive to the Cenote (15 min). • You will have free time to enjoy the cenote, the time depends on you, here there is no rush, so you can relax and connect with nature. • 15:30 - Drive back to your location (2hs). • 17:30 - Drop off.
