Hello! My name is Cristina, but most people call me Kitty. I was born and raised in Mérida, Yucatán, and I’ve been working as a professional tour guide for almost a decade — including 8 years of experience guiding with ToursByLocals. Guiding is not just my job; it’s something I genuinely love. Over the years, I’ve explored Yucatán deeply and from many angles, which allows each experience to be thoughtful, well-researched, flexible, and adapted to you and your interests. I work with small groups and private travelers, and I’m always happy to adjust the pace, focus, or structure of a tour depending on your interests. Many of my tours offer options within the itinerary, allowing you to choose how the day unfolds. I hold a National Tour Guide License issued by Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Arts with a specialization in Music from the Yucatán State Arts University. Throughout my career, I’ve also participated in cultural and community-based projects and volunteer work, which have helped me gain a deeper, more grounded understanding of local life and perspectives. This background allows me to share history and culture in a way that feels natural, engaging, and easy to connect with, always keeping the experience clear, balanced, and enjoyable for travelers. My vehicle is fully insured for travelers, and I can also assist with custom itineraries, special interests, and larger groups when needed. Please feel free to explore the tours I’ve carefully designed, and don’t hesitate to message me if you’re looking for something more personalized — I’ll be happy to help you create the experience that fits you best.

Start your day in Merida with pickup at your lodging in a comfortable SUV. Drive south to Uxmal, one of the most remarkable Mayan cities, where a private guided tour will reveal the history, architecture, and symbolism carved into every building. After exploring the ruins, choose 2 additional activities to complete your experience: cool off in a cenote, visit a Yucatecan hacienda with colonial architecture, explore the artisan workshop of Patricia Martin Morales, visit nearby Kabah or Labná archaeological sites or an experience at a Maya village, where a local family welcomes us and shares fascinating details about their way of life—how traditional Maya huts are built and how they use their backyard space (their homestead) where they keep animals and grow what they need. We then visit the local tortillería to see how fresh masa is made at the molino. Back at their home, we prepare sikil pak, seasonal fruits and juice, and pollo pibil, and finally sit down to share a delicious homemade meal together.

Great tour! Cristina was very knowledgeable about the historic sites and the history of the area. She was personable and actually sat down at the table with us at lunch to chat. Most tour guides leave the clients on their own at lunch, but it was great to learn more about her as a person. This helps us learn more about the culture and people of the area as well. Highly recommended!
Cristina is a wonderful guide, full of knowledge about the local area and Mayan history. Uxmal is truly astounding and relatively peaceful compared to other sites such as Chichen Itza.
Our guide Kitty and our day touring were perfection. She showed up and started the tour exactly on time and spoke perfect English. Her style was relatable, polite, considerate, super well informed, and detailed but not once to the point of providing more information than we could have absorbed. She was very sensitive to one of our members who tired early and provided an option that we very much appreciated. We could not have asked for a better guide.
Fabulous tour with a fabulous guide! Very knowledgeable and personable...would highly recommend to anyone wanting to see Uxmal and some the areas surrounding Merida
We did two full day tours with Cristina last week and had an enjoyable time on both. For the Uxmal tour we also visited Kabáh and the Yaxcopoil hacienda. Each of these three sites are very interesting. Cristina is a highly professional guide with a warm and engaging personality. She provided excellent information about the sites we visited, and was also happy to discuss a wide range of topics about Yucatan and Mexico more generally. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her.
