Chichén Itzá & Optional Cenote or Izamal Tour from Mérida — Private Guided Excursion

Cristina was an excellent guide for our Chichén Itzá day, with an exceptional depth of knowledge about Maya history, archaeology, and the broader cultural context. Her explanations at the site were clear, detailed, and genuinely interesting, and the conversations during the drives added a great deal to the experience. Our guide Cristina A. picked up the five of us early at the house we had rented in Merida, so we could arrive at Chichen Itza just as it was opening in order to beat the crowds and heat of the day. That was a real plus since by mid morning. the site was full of throngs of tourists and venders lining the pathways. By noon we were on our way to Izmal, the 'Yellow' city of Yucatan for lunch at an exceptional restaurant Cristina had selected. The decor, ambiance, and delicious Mayan/Yucatan food were exactly what we had hoped to experience on our trip. Cristina is fully fluent in English and Spanish. She immediately put us at ease and is fully knowledgeable as a guide.

Last week we took two full day tours with Christina, which we enjoyed immensely. On the tour to Chichen Itza we also visited the yellow town of Izamal. It is worth noting that Chichen Itza is very busy, with a large number of tourists visiting from Cancun. It is a different experience to visiting Uxmal, which is equally impressive yet peaceful and relaxing. Christina is a highly professional guide and has a warm and engaging personality. She provided excellent information about the sites we visited and was also happy to discuss a wide range of topics about Yucatan and Mexico. We also appreciated her recommendation about where to get a good meal at the market in Merida. Going on a tour with Cristina is a positive experience and we highly recommend her services.

Cristina was an exemplary guide! She was very knowledgeable about all of the locations we visited which included Chichen Itza, Uxmal and the town of Izamal in addition to Merida. She is very personable and it was fun to travel with her. Her tours included lunches at very traditional restaurants with excellent food. Getting a tour from Cristina was a great experience. She was really flexible with the tour (we wanted to spend more time at Chichen Itza and also do a little birdwatching) and knowledgeable about Yucatan, Merida, and Chichen Itza.
