I welcome you to Japan! Thank you for coming to my page. I'm Sumiko who would like to your Private Guide in Japan! I was born and brought up in Yamanashi -next to Tokyo, having viewed Mt. Fuji every day until the age of 18 and moved to Tokyo for the study in college. After I worked at the central bank of Japan for about ten years, I moved to Pittsburgh, USA from 1998 to 2000 because of my husband's work. During that period, I attended the English classes for English learners at the University of Pittsburgh or a community college, also had a son (he used to tell the difference between "L" and "R" sound when in the USA, not anymore. ) I have also a daughter who was born in Japan! Currently, I also tutor English for kids at a private school twice a week which starts after regular schools. So children are also welcome! I have guided many foreign tourists for the past several years. I had been a volunteer guide since 2011 and got the national license of the certified guide in 2016. So I am quite familiar with touristy places as well as some areas only locals know. Through my study or experiences as a tour guide, I rediscovered how Japan is traditional and new, complicated and simplified, friendly and modest. Sumiko lead a wonderful tour that included a short tea ceremony that included antique tea bowls (400 year old!), a walkthrough of the Tsukiji market area, and the Tokyo National Museum. She explained the Tokyo subway system in a way that made sense, to boot. She's a great communicator with solid English. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing tour with Sumiko. We had chosen. Few main attractions to visit and wanted to get familiar with the public transportation on our first day. Sumiko was great and spoke perfect English with a deep knowledge of history. Highly recommend.
Sumiko was a wonderful guide. She had a plan and executed it well, even when my husband lost his metro card and then left his wallet in the Taxi. She calmly fix both problems all the while showing us a fire ceremony at a temple, then a wonderful Japanese garden and the Edo museum that really showed what everyday life was like during that period of history. We were impressed and will use her again.
