Hello everyone, my name's Paolo and I'm an archaeologist and a licensed tour guide. I was born in Forlì, a small picturesque city located in Northern Italy - not far from Bologna. And it was there, in my childhood, where I took my first steps in the world of archaeology, going with my friends in search of fossils and other ancient objects. I graduated at the University of Bologna obtaining a degree in Cultural Heritage, then I completed the postgraduate school in Classical Archaeology at the University of Padua, then I moved to Rome. I never quit studying and improving my knowledge as a professional archaeologist working on field and research so I also a got a Phd in Classical Archaeology at the Ludwig Maximilians Universität of Munich (Germany), wonderfull experience! To follow my passion and my job I have lived in several cities in Italy and Greece, such as Rome and Pompeii. Since 2009 I have enjoyed living and working in Castellammare di Stabia too, a quaint maritime town near Pompeii - where you could say I have "landed" and remained ever since. I'm lucky to be responsible of the Roman site of Stabia for directing and coordinating excavations and restoration projects, teaming up with archaeologists and restorers from all over the world. I have also been a licensed tour guide of the Campania Region and Vatican city and Colosseum since 2014, so when I'm not involved with excavation work, I love to share my time and my knowledge with students, art lovers and tourists showing them the archaeological and artistic treasures of this enchanting corner of Italy. Now I live and work in Rome as I feel like it's my native city and always fascinated with the Ancient Rome since I was a child. The Ethernal city is absolutey magic in every its corner. I specialized in Roman archaeology and Rome it's my hometown where I feel home 100%. I look forward to showing you the best ones and live an amazing experience together exploring the best. What else can I say? I'm waiting for you here to spend some unforgettable days together! I graduated at the University of Bologna obtaining a degree in Cultural Heritage and then I completed the postgraduate specialization in Classical and Roman Archaeology at the University of Padova. I have a PhD in Classical Archaeology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany. Due to Italian rules, I'm licensed to guide you inside museums, archaeological areas, cities. I'm not a licensed driver. For tours including private transportation my associated professional driver will be at your disposal.

Overview of your Rome tour

When in Rome, do not miss its surroundings ! I can suggest you and guide you to Tivoli! I'l be your personal archaeologist for the day! It is located 30 km east from Rome driving through Via Tiburtina, where we'll take the change to visit two splendid villas from two different ages: Villa Adriana dates back to Roman times and Villa D'Este is from the Renaissance period. Hadrian's Villa was built by Emperor Hadrian and based on the memories he had of the monuments and sites, with monumental courtyards decorated with mosaics and columns, he had seen during his travels in the East. a deep in the Emperor Hadrian way of life and think. Then Villa D'Este, one of the most beautiful residences of the Renaissance period. More than three hundrend monumental fountains! impressive! spectacular water jets and games are located there, in the heart of the emblem of an Italian-style gardens. The tour will also include the wonderful palace decorated with remarkable Renaissance paintings. **VILLAS ARE CLOSED ON MONDAYS**

Hadrian's Villa and Villa D' Este are in the beautiful hillside town of Tivoli east of Rome and touring them with Paolo was absolutely perfect. Paolo's knowledge of Ancient and Renaissance Rome is matched only by his charming demeanor and friendly, exuberant personality. He brought the ruins of Hadrian's Villa back to life and experiencing the fountains of Villa D' Este was unforgettable. Having lunch at the 2nd Century BC Temple of Sibilla was an unexpected highlight to this magical tour.

Our group of two adults and two teenagers spent three days with Paolo exploring Rome and Tivoli. He was absolutely fantastic and aside from being an accomplished expert in his field, was really fun and engaging with adults and teens alike. He presented a ton of information but in such a way that we really absorbed as much as possible. I don’t think you could find a better guide. We look forward to visiting Italy again with Paolo as our guide.

Paolo was the ideal tour guide for a trip to Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este. He was highly professional as well as friendly and warm. As a working archeologist, he demonstrated an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of his field and welcomed our questions, providing thorough, thoughtful answers. Also, he was mindful of our needs as we walked, pacing the tour to maximize our physical ease and comfort. My friend and I both felt we learned a great deal from Paolo, and we really enjoyed our time with him!

Paulo is a superb guide for Hadrian's Villa and Garden d'Este. Paulo's has a PhD in archeology, real life dig experience and currently teaches at a university in Germany. Paulo's knowledge is encyclopedic; he is extremely personable, his English is excellent and generally a joy to be around. The tour is a long day with a lot of walking and Paulo was open to modifying for items we wanted to see. His choice for lunch was outstanding, scrumptious food and incredible view. His driver, Diego was also excellent
