Having someone who can explain all the details of the area as you walk around it, will make Imperial Rome come alive. You'll learn how the Romans lived their lives, what they went to the Forum for, what sort shows entertained them at the Colosseum, and how they enviously looked up towards the Palatine Hill, where the Emperors lived in fantastic palaces with their own private stadiums and thermal baths. Not many people know that the whole area was dug out at the time of Mussolini, less than 100 years ago, and that those who visited Rome before than could only see some chunks of columns half buried in the ground with cows and sheep grazing all over the place. There is plenty to learn from these sights and it will be my pleasure to be your private guide while you visit my beloved city.
Massimiliano (Max!) was so wonderful. This was our second tour with Tours by Locals in Rome, and we had the best time! He was wonderful with my little kids (ages 4 and 1) and kept things fun and interesting for them too. We covered a lot of ground and information but didn't feel over-whelmed or exhausted (physically or mentally!) at the end. Highly, highly recommend. Thank you Max!!

Wow, what a fantastic day we had with Massimiliano!!! He is so enthusiastic and charismatic and obviously loves what he does. He made a grueling 100 degree day fun and enjoyable. We would DEFINITELY recommend him!!!
This worked out to be a wonderful tour. We were late arriving which was definitely our fault and they would not let us in. Max did a great job working with the office and they were able to get us tickets at a later time. He is extremely knowledgeable and kept everyone’s interest including my two teenage grandsons.
We had an incredible day with Massimiliano and appreciated his depth of knowledge about the Roman Forum and Colosseum. He kept out three teenagers engaged and they learned a lot about Roman life and politics during this time.
