Welcome to my profile! I am a native, officially licensed Guide for Rome and a licensed Educator in Didactics for the Visually Impaired, with a Doctorate in Art History and a researcher in Arts and Palaeography. The path to becoming an official guide here in Italy is NOT short and straight. I have dedicated a good portion of my life to studying and deeply furthering my passion for Italy, its history and its importance in shaping the world that we all live in today. I am eager to help you to see, understand and to fully grasp, not just the 'wow factor' of what you're seeing, but also its place in all of our histories. No matter where we were born. As a re-enactor I also love to show objects, tools, music, food, scents that may help you to touch, listen, visualize and understand habits of the past. So much has changed and yet, so little. This kind of sensorial experience is also a very good key for the ones with special needs. In fact I am also a specialist in the particular needs of the elderly, the visually impaired and those with mobility issues. Nothing needs to hold you back from what will be not just the holiday of a lifetime, but also a new learning experience. That is why I am more oriented toward the EDUCATIONAL side of the tour, deepening and discussing CULTURAL and HISTORICAL aspects of the masterpieces we will discover together. I lead small groups with a maximum of 8 guests, my tours last longer than the average so that you can feel fully engaged and free to ask whatever you want, and I like answering questions. I love to share my knowledge with those whom are curious and motivated but I am NEITHER AN ENTERTAINER NOR A COMEDIAN; as one my clients noted, "If you're just looking for photo ops and fluff, he may not be the guide for you. But, if you want to learn about the amazing history of Rome, he's your guide!". The key my tours is FACTS: so I DO NOT indulge in blood, gore and spicy gossip but just keep to HISTORY. Believe me: Rome has definitely much more to offer than just the Colosseum and the Vatican! You can learn much more about History and Art visiting lesser known, more exclusive treasures rather than the usual "must-see" blockbuster. For this reason in addiction to the classical itineraries I love also to suggest specific, tailored thematic tours lasting one or more days, in order to favor a full immersion experience of Rome's beauty. And that is surely the best souvenir of all. CREDENTIALS Scuola Specializzazione in Storia dell'Arte (Ph. Overview of your Rome tour

Rome wasn't built in a day so invest 3 days to discover its wonders! This is a multi-layered city and I will be happy to show how many different ages and events can be read in the structure of a square or even a single building. An orientation tour will provide the coordinates to understand where Rome was founded and how it grew through the centuries. Following an imperial aqueduct, literally the backbone of Rome, you will discover the underground wonders of the ancient city as well as majestic noble residences and their precious art collections still unknown to the crowds: a secret to share with my clients! You will as well compare the simplicity of a medieval quiet convent to the intimidating fierceness of Michelangelo's Moses, both next to the majesty of the Flavian Amphitheatre, the arena of blood and glory. Finally you will discover the many different sophisticated ways to express wonder and faith in the many Baroque churches and their triumph in the very shrine of the Arts: the Vatican Museums!

Giampaolo put together a truly amazing three day adventure that covered everything we hoped to see/experience and more! Of greatest importance, Giampaolo proved himself as an expert on everything from art to geography and thousands of years of Roman, Italian and European history. He is truly a passionate expert and I cannot imagine a better guide.

Giampaolo was a great tour guide! I especially liked how calm and relaxed he was. He took his time explaining things and we never felt rushed or pressed for time. We strolled through the parks and city streets taking in all the small details of the city. He focused on the most interesting artwork at the museums as there was so much ground to cover and let us ask questions and take extra time on things that we found interesting. I really loved his quiet tone and demeanor and the five hours we spent with him was the perfect amount of time to cover so much of Rome. He was very easy to communicate with and seemed to really enjoy his job which is important. Nothing seemed scripted and he spoke to us as if we were old friends. An all around great guy to know in Rome!

Giampaolo is incredibly knowledgeable about Rome's long history and provides extremely detailed and interesting presentations. He was very solicitous of physical limitations for some of the people in our small group. He was also flexible and helpful when we had some scheduling issues. Giampaolo went above and beyond for us, and we recommend him 11 out of 10!

Giampaolo was an outstanding tour guide! His deep knowledge of history and art brought our visit to Rome to life in a way we never expected. We explored the Lasagna Church (S. Clemente) with its incredible 3-level underground layers, the Church of S. Giovanni and Paolo with the fascinating underground Roman houses, and the Colosseum. We had taken a private Colosseum tour before and thought it was great, but Giampaolo showed us just how much we were missing (lol). His historical detail and insights were truly stunning. He was also fantastic with our kids (we even stopped for a gelato break!) making the experience enjoyable for the whole family. Highly recommend for anyone looking to dive deep into Rome's rich history!

Giampaolo is the epitome of guide potential. In addition to having extensive knowledge of the relevant subject matter [as anticipated], his responsiveness to the needs and wants of three mature, physically limited women, his flexibility to time, place, activity, and depth of exploration is notable. He is personally warm, empathetic and patient. We have all previously visited Rome so requested 3 days of touring less visited historic and religiously associated sites. Perfection!

Despite his limited availability, Giampaolo crafted a tour for us that hit all of the highlights and advised us well on the rest. His ability to provide deep historical context and weave this into the tour was just what we were looking for. We also enjoyed the discussions about the architecture, art, and artists. This is a tour for those interested in learning, rather than taking a selfie in front of every stone and painting. So, bring a good pair of shoes and be ready to march through history!
