Hello Everybody, I am a licensed tour guide based in Rome. I was born and raised in Rome, then I traveled the world because of my father's job. I came back to Rome where I graduated from college in History and Philosophy with a minor ( I would rather say: a true passion!) for art history and archeology. I lived in New York for several years and then I came back to Rome where I am blessed to "play tourist in my own city" as a job. I love my city, the Eternal City, which means " no matter who the ruler is" this city is eternal. I love to share the history of some of the most important and famous venues in town, but I also love to make my clients feel "insiders" when they explore Rome and Italy. Living abroad gave me the chance to see my country with different eyes and actually, I love being " a cultural bridge" for people who visit Rome. I do a lot of tours, but I am also very flexible when it comes to matching my client's expectations. Every Wednesday morning (except when the Pope is not in Rome), Pope Francis has the General Audience in St. Peter Square to address the people who gathered there and to give his blessings. It's a great way to live a very special aspect of the Eternal City and everything it has to offer.
Our stop in Rome was the first on your Italian holiday, and the Papal Audience that Monica took us to was our first experience. Sure seeing the Pope inches away (as advertised) was an experience, but meeting and connecting with Monica was a superior experience. Knowledgable, savvy, personable, generous with her time and attention - Monica is the guide you wish would journey with you through Italy.
Monica was fantastic. She knew exactly where to go, when to go and what to do. She also introduced us to a merchant, who has a clean restroom in back for the best clients. She told us a great deal about the Papacy and history of the Vatican. She also arranged pickup at the hotel and after a series of alleys and trips down streets that did not look like streets, we popped out and she was standing there. She is a real treasure and I highly recommend her to you as a 5-star guide in Rome.
This was excellent - excellent - excellent; I am the traveler /travel agent and I'm afraid if I rate our Papal Audience with the Pope and Monica's service she will never be available for future clients. We had a group of 13 and when I confirmed the event, she informed our group that she would guarantee seeing the Pope. Been in the business for over 40 years, and I am cautions of guarantees. However, she did it! Our group of 13 were within 5 feet of the Pope! They were over the top excited!
We will meet in St Peter Square on the right side at the end of Via della Conciliazione, looking at the Basilica. We will go through security and I will know where to seat in order to be able to see the Pope up close. The seat will be granted until the end of the General Audience The tour will end in St Peter Square and since you'll be already inside the Vatican, after the Audience you will be able to visit the Basilica without standing any additional line
