Hello everyone, and thank you for taking a look at my profile! I am an Art Historian, postgraduated at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome. I also obtained a master's degree in Conservation and Restoration at the University "Gregoriana" in Rome. I became a licensed guide of Rome and of the Vatican Museums in 2001. I have also spent some time abroad to improve my language skills. I love both modern and ancient art and archaeology so for me it is not tiring to learn new things that I can later share with travellers! I enjoy art in all its forms, e. g. theatre and ballet, which I practice during my free time. I am in love with my city and its characteristic alleys, where I wander to explore and find secret corners I can take travellers to! My favorite places are Saint Angelo's Castle, where you can feel a marvelous medieval atmosphere, and the Pantheon, the monument symbol of the Imperial Rome. A marvelous walk in one of the word's best preserved Roman sites
Overview of your Rome tour
Together we'll walk through the Roman ruins of this old town. It can be defined as a small, little Pompeii, just a few kilometers away from Rome. Ostia was one of the first villages conquered by Rome; it immediately became a river port acquiring a commercial function to supply Rome with food, particularly wheat, even if its defending military function as naval base certainly prevailed. Ostia is magical, I'll show you how much informative it is! It will be a fascinating tour through the monumental theatre built by Emperor Augustus, the large square in the back with precious mosaics on the floor, the big public thermal baths with an amazing mosaic representing the God Neptune surrounded by fantastic fish and the original Roman street with the ancient cemetery and multi-storey apartment blocks with the original stores on the street.
