Ciao! My name is René. I am a licensed Tour Guide of Rome and I love touring real travellers. Those who want to go deeper then the "must see"s, who wonder "off the beaten track", and look for hidden gems. Because I know the atmosphere and beauty are often away from crowds and "go go" mood. Festina lente, as Augustus said, or hurry up slowly. Whether you decide to take a walking tour, or visit Rome's incredibile museums or see amazing Villas and archeological sites outside the city, all of my tours are customised so they address your interest the best way. I want that you bring the sunniest memories back home and learn something new. Because the best way to travel is to discover. See you soon in Rome! We know so much about them and still so little. The Etruscans seem to be the shadow of Roman success. Those were them who taught Romans the famous arch and other tricks of architecture and engineering. They built the Roman sewage that still works 2. 5 thousand years after! When Rome was just a settlement of huts, Etruscans reached the peak of their prosperity. Their women had equal rights to men. They knew how to enjoy life, no wonder Etruscans brought wine to Italy. And still - where did this people come from? Why did they disappear? Nothing brings us more light on their life than death. Visit the necropolis of Cerveteri - a real city of dead. Excavated in a volcanic rock it had to host the souls of the bypassed. A unique archeological site that shows us an Etruscan city in miniature. Beds, chairs, windows inside the tombs model real dwellings. Come here on a day trip to rest from the chaos of Rome. Time seems to have stopped here and it tells us so much about the mystery of the ancient civilisation. .
- We will start in Rome where I will pick you up from your hotel and in about 1 hour we'll be in Cerveteri. Put on comfortable shoes because it's going to be a kind of Indiana Jones experience! We'll be climbing down into the tombs, we'll be wondering on the streets of the city of dead. - After the visit of the archeological site we can also visit the local city museum with its exciting treasures excavated by archeologists. Note that this tour can be customised. We can add to it the visit of Tarquinia - another incredibile UNESCO site, where you can admire colourful frescoes that are 2. 5 thousand years old. . . Or we can visit Villa Giulia Museum in Rome where fantastic pieces found in these and other sites are held. Just write me and I'll arrange the tour so that it will suit you the best.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
Normally I hire a professional driver and a Mercedes-class car with air-conditioning to make the trip more comfortable for you. However if you are a small group I could drive you there myself (Ford Fiesta), the price in that case will be lower. Just write me about it and we'll find the most suitable solution for you.
