Siena and San Gimignano Shore Excursion

This tour put together the two most famous places in the south-east area of Tuscany. A small walled village, called San Gimignano, left unalteraded over the centuries with its many towers, once house of whealty merchants, a true time voyage experience. The other place is Siena, the second most important tuscan city which contended the power with Florence over the century for the supremacy in the region. Siena besides its beautiful architectures and museums host the worldwide famous Palio, the horse race between the city neighbourhood held twice a year in the main square, Piazza del Campo. It and was also an important medieval financial center. I came often here to admire the race and soak the medieval atmosfphere of the event, that allowed me to explore the city and discover the most interesting corners.

- From Port to san Gimignano 1. 5 hours through a beautiful country side on back roads. - 1 hour stay to explore the village with its handicraft shops. - 45 minute drive to Siena. - 3 hours stay in Siena, we go for a walking tour to see the magnificent Cathedral, Piazza Del Campo, with thwe Palazzo pubblico, the Santa Caterina Sanctuary, Via Banchi di Sopra e di Sotto, the main city's street with the offices of medieval financial institutions, Palazzo Chigi-Saracini, palazzo Piccolomini, all seen from outside. It is possible to visit inside the magnificent Cathedral. - This area is famous for wine production and is possible to stop at a winery for a tasting. - 2 hours drive back to the port.
