Hi! My name is Kathleen. Siena is my hometown. My Irish-American mother came here to study, met my father and rest is history. She has never left but has raised three bicultural, bilingual children. We went to school in America during my sophomore year and later, I ventured out on my own to live and study in Brazil. I now speak Portuguese. They say that travel is an acquired taste. I have acquired it. It has become my passion! Exploring different parts of the world and getting to know their culture has been a life-changing experience for me and I have pursued a career in this field. I want to share my experiences with guests visiting my country. After studying in Florence, I passed their stringent requirements and a state exam and received a license as a guide for both Florence and Siena. Having met so many people, during our encounters the words received and the expression on my guests' faces illustrates more than just their complete satisfaction, also their amazing prospective of what they have experienced on their journey through Siena.   I have worked for a major international tour company, leading groups on tours in Italy for guests unfamiliar with the history and customs of my country. For the last nine years, I have concentrated all of my passions on Siena. I am rewarded with smiles, thanks and what I know is a better understanding of the rich history that has made Italy a major destination for so many world travelers. Siena is a fun city to explore. Follow me and I'll show you the back streets teeming with history, families living normal everyday lives, grandmothers stopping to chat with their lifelong neighbors and children playing in the streets. I'll point out restaurants, wine shops, ice cream parlors, and the best place to buy some local cheese and pastries.
