This is the perfect day trip for wine, food and history lovers! Vines were grown in Tuscany since VII century BC: Etruscans (pre Romans) were the first to make wine in the Region and the production did not ever stop but improved up to date. A deiglthful drive through Tuscany countryside will bring you to two excellent family run wineries: the first located in Terricciola, also known as 'Città del Vino' ('the city of wine') on the road between Pisa and Volterra, in the heart of Tuscany; the second one located on the top of a nicely windy hill facing the medieval village of Ponsacco. Together with the owners you will visit the vineyard, the cellar and end up the tour with the tasting of their outstanding wines (Chianti included), while surrounded by an amazing scenery! In between the two visits, you will enjoy a delicious lunch in a family run restaurant, located in the medieval hilltown of Peccioli.
-Your personal tour guide Martina will meet you in Pisa -Delightful drive to the first winery (Terricciola) -Visit of the XVIII century estate, the cellar and wine tasting (it takes 2 hours) While touring you will learn about harvesting time, wine making procedures, maturing in different tanks/barriques, bottling. You will then enter a beautiful room and you will taste three/five brands of top quality wines (bread and homemade extra virgin olive oil, olives, local salame +pecorino cheese and mineral water will be at your disposal). -Transfer to the medieval village of Peccioli for a delicious lunch in a family run Restaurant (fresh homemade pasta, pizza, fish and meat dishes, sweets and cakes) -Delightful drive to the second winery (Ponsacco) -Visit of the vineyard+ the cellar & wine + extra virgin olive oil tasting (it takes 2 hours)
