Meet up with Martina for a day tour through the rolling hills of Tuscany countryside where you will discover the two fascinating hilltop towns of Volterra and San Gimignano. This trip will leave you unforgettable memories for a lifetime! Like a precious gem nestled on a ring, the beautiful city of Volterra stands out of a steep cliff and bears witness to three tousands years of history (Etruscan, Roman & Medieval time). Volterra is characterized by alabaster stone workshops running along its narrow alleys and facing beautiful small squares - there master artisans will show you how they transform a raw material into awesome works of art. San Gimignano will engage you as well because of fourteeth Medieval towers still standing and visible from far away (you may consider to climb the 'Torre Grossa!). Walking with Martina through its perfectly preserved historic centre, you will be impressed by charming details, while learning about its history and traditions.
Martina and a professional driver will pick you up inside the port of Livorno. Delightful drive to the mysterious and fascinating hilltop town of Volterra. After a brief introduction we will start the tour from 'Porta all'Arco', rare example of Etruscan military architecture; walking thorugh its narrow streets and alleys we will discover its Medieval buildings (Religious and Political sights); then we will reach the remains of a Roman theatre and Roman baths. Within the end of the tour we will visit an alabaster workshop, where we will see how artisans tranform a raw material into amazing works of art. -Delicious Lunch in a family run Trattoria where they served fresh homemade pasta and local dishes The afternoon will be spent exploring San Gimignano, also renowned for the crispy and golden Vernaccia wine (Martina will be happy to book a wine tasting for you, too!)
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
