After many years as a teacher of art and music (MA and PhD), in schools and in University, I decided to become a tour guide. I lived in Bologna since I was 15, previously having lived in Milan, with a short stay in Venice in my adult age. I have also travelled in Europe, USA, India and as far as Antarctica. The peculiarity of guiding a tour is the close yet temporary relationship which arises between the traveller and the guide. Therefore, I try to create a synergy through historical accounts, curious or funny historical anecdotes, describing the everyday life in town, and the appreciation of all the artworks, monuments and precious palaces it presents. These high cultural value, together with a vivid experience of the city, can open the travellers to new ways of perception. In Bologna food has the same importance as a work of art, and even though delicious food specialties are known all over Italy, in this town there is a real celebration of food that dates back to ancient times. There's even historical documents which testify laws and rules applied to the making of food specialties! A tasting tour will have real meaning here. I can lead a tour in a Pinacoteca, or in any painting collection of both ancient, modern, and even contemporary art. Not to forget the Museum of Music, (Bologna is a UNESCO City of Music), collections of musical instruments, or even a visit to a violin maker at work. What drives me is the enthusiasm in transmitting the value of Beauty, in sharing a visit to the most ancient pub in town dating back to 16th c. , and leading a walk in order to feel as local citizen, dealing not only with old history, but with contemporary life as well. 2009- PhD in General Pedagogy, Social Pedagogy and General Didactics. Bologna on one side overlooks the flat Po river Valley, while on the other side it overlooks the hills which, at length, lead to Tuscany. These beautiful hills are fascinating in any season, showing a flourishing and wild Nature. Not so far from the city, they can be reached by a pleasant drive, allowing some short walks into the Nature. In a few minutes from the centre you will find yourself venturing into the wild nature, going across parks, churches, old villas, open air monuments, farms, vineyards, woods, and also animals crossing the streets! Bolognese people are as fond of the hills surrounding the town as they are of the town itself. All Bolognese citizens are accustomed to have a ride or a drive along the hills for just a day off, or for holidays. Experience a unique tour in which we'll cover unique natural areas and history filled places of cultural relevance. Bare in mind the following itinerary can be customized to best meet your specific interests.
-We will start our excursion in a hired car with a licensed professional driver just outside of the historical centre. -Among the things we'll come across along the way are: ·18th and 19th century villas ·Finely restored old farmers' houses ·A religious centre in the woods now running as a gathering site for people all over the world. ·The slopes of Calanchi, a geological constitution existing only in this area. -A wide open air monument reminding of WW2 that we'll pass by on foot. -Continuing with our drive for some mins, we'll be in wild nature, with trees and flowers - or a romantic mist, typical of this region. -We'll stop at an old farm surrounded by a vineyard for simple but authentic snacks (some ham, cheese and wine). -After a visit to the huge San Luca Basilica which dominates the town, we'll start our way back. During the the tour we will stop and have short walks, so that it won't be just a drive admiring the landscape from the car, but also a natural experience of the areas we're visiting.
