Hi, my name is Francesco. I would like to welcome you to my warm and welcoming Emilia Romagna. I was born and raised in Ravenna but I have lived in Bologna for many years. I am a tour guide and a tour leader with a regular license and since I am a professional wine taster I have chosen to tell my territory giving great importance to the food and wine aspect. First of all I would say that I feel like a traveler. I have had travel experience on almost every continent. As a traveler, I like to blend in with the local people and learn from them the secrets of the place visited. In every place I visit then, I love to taste the local delicacies. I also give great importance to storytelling. To what and how say something, for this reason I have devoted a lot of time to writing (another interest I have) and, lucky me. . . I have published three travel books, nationwide distributed (Recently tranlsated in English and available on Amazon) So, my idea of traveling and touring is to get to know people with a local perspective, to get to know the historical and gastronomic culture and to know how to tell it. This is my idea of travel and what I try to spread to the travelers I meet! Contact me without hesitation for any information or to customize your tour! Tour Guide professional licence Tour Leader professional licence Wine taster O.N.A.V. Degree I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Please note that food tours do not provide an alternative for vegetarians or celiacs.

Walking through the streets of the historic center we will taste some of the most representative wines of the regional scene, in places that have made the history of Bolognese hospitality. We will begin the tour toasting with a glass of Pignoletto in the oldest tavern in Europe, dated 1465. Here, in the heart of the food market, we will talk about the relationship between wine and gastronomy in Emilia Romagna; to follow we will try a glass of Lambrusco in a wine shop that is famous for its research in terms of quality and organicity. After this modern parenthesis, we will go back in time to another tavern of the 15th century, here we will try one of the most interesting reads in Italy, which is also the basis of many noble Tuscan wines: Sangiovese, but in the Romagna version.
-A visit of the Medieval market area and the main delicacies that it can offer. -Osteria del Sole, the oldest tavern in Europe and a glass of Pignoletto, sparkling white from bolognese hills. - Stop in Piazza Santo Stefano looking around the main buildings of the square, restaurants and cafès. Here we will try a glass of Lambrusco (sparkling red) in a modern wine shop, organic oriented. - Via D'Azeglio and Piazzetta de' Celestini. -Albergo and Restaurant Cappello Rosso, another traditional tavern in the city, here we will try a Sangiovese red. -Main square and the towers: just under one of those we will stop for the last tasting again about our region. The itinerary can change according to the days and opening times of the shops we visit, in that case I'm going to set an alternative. Please note that I can customize the tour and tastings according to your requests. During the tastings will be provided a small gastronomic accompaniment.
