After many years as a teacher of art and music (MA and PhD), in schools and in University, I decided to become a tour guide. I lived in Bologna since I was 15, previously having lived in Milan, with a short stay in Venice in my adult age. I have also travelled in Europe, USA, India and as far as Antarctica. The peculiarity of guiding a tour is the close yet temporary relationship which arises between the traveller and the guide. Therefore, I try to create a synergy through historical accounts, curious or funny historical anecdotes, describing the everyday life in town, and the appreciation of all the artworks, monuments and precious palaces it presents. These high cultural value, together with a vivid experience of the city, can open the travellers to new ways of perception. In Bologna food has the same importance as a work of art, and even though delicious food specialties are known all over Italy, in this town there is a real celebration of food that dates back to ancient times. There's even historical documents which testify laws and rules applied to the making of food specialties! A tasting tour will have real meaning here. I can lead a tour in a Pinacoteca, or in any painting collection of both ancient, modern, and even contemporary art. Not to forget the Museum of Music, (Bologna is a UNESCO City of Music), collections of musical instruments, or even a visit to a violin maker at work. What drives me is the enthusiasm in transmitting the value of Beauty, in sharing a visit to the most ancient pub in town dating back to 16th c. , and leading a walk in order to feel as local citizen, dealing not only with old history, but with contemporary life as well. 2009- PhD in General Pedagogy, Social Pedagogy and General Didactics. In Bologna food has the same importance as a work of art, and even though delicious food specialties are known all over Italy -every region exhibiting its own traditional ones- in this town there is a real celebration of food that dates back to ancient times. We know of this due to the existence of documents which testify laws and rules applied to the process of making food specialties. The Quadrilatero area, name of the old market area, located just in the very centre of town, is a crossroads of narrow cobblestone streets, still bearing the signs of the old network of activities and commerce that took place there in past centuries. We will walk in this area, where we can find all the traditional bolognese and regional foods, both in shops and in all kinds of eateries. Guided tour in between stops Customizable itinerary:
- The first stop is in the Mercato di Mezzo old covered market, where you'll have a traditional bolognese first course, at your choice. -Jut behind the corner in a famous gastronomy shop, you will taste a rich tray of cured meat, salame, mortadella, different kind of cheese together with typical Italian pickles. A glass of wine from the vineyards of the Emilia Romagna region will perfectly fit this food. -Then, a tasting at the oldest and finest chocolate firms founded in Italy; as an alternative, another little shop full of any kind of sweets you could ever imagine will satisfy your wishes. -The last tasting stop is at the special Balsamic Vinegar from Modena shop, working since 16th c. Original Balsamic Vinegar is produced only in Modena province. The tastings will actually work as a full meal, altogether. At every step I'll be describing the process of making the specialties, old traditions, and family habits in Bologna and in Italy, together with historical and artistic hints of the very centre.

I'll generally go and meet the guests at their hotel. If the hotel is not in the centre, the place of meeting will be at the Neptune fountain, just next to Piazza Maggiore, the main square.
