Hi Everyone, nice to meet you! I'm Cecilia and I live in Bologna (northern Italy) with my family, where I've been a licensed Tour Manager since 2016. I've studied accounting and worked in corporations' offices for more than 30 years, but I love traveling and meeting people of different cultures. Do you know that the Traditional balsamic is called the "black gold of Modena" as it takes a minimum of 12 or 25 years to be obtained? And what about the famous Parma ham? It takes 14 months of aging before passing a quality exam! Cecilia has created the perfect day tour out of Bologna to learn about how the legendary foods of the region are produced. we visited small producers with old family history to learn how much care, detail and patience is required to create these famous foods. Our party of 8 agreed that this tour - especially the visits to the hidden away vinegar farm and ham warehouse were the highlight of our week. Many thanks to Cecilia for a delightful day!
Cecelia was an amazing guide on our private food tour in Emilia Romana. It was a pleasure for our family to spend the day with her as she shared her knowledge of some of our favorite foods. We started at a small producer of Parmigiano-Reggiano and were able to see the cheese being made and then get a firsthand view of the manufacturing process before sampling amazing cheese. The next stop was a family operated prosciutto company where we saw the process and were able to sample amazing Parma ham. Last, we visited a family owned balamic producer and got an informative tour followed by tastings. Cecelia dropped us off at a local trattoria where we had a wonderful lunch and then she drove us back to Bologna where we enjoyed some gelato before saying goodbye. We had a fantastic time with Cecelia and highly recommend her tour!
What a great day!! Cecilia was the absolute best. This tour is worth every penny. It’s almost as though she has worked at each place she took us as she knows the whole process. You will definitely visit local producers off the beaten path of the big tour groups. Our day ended with a wonderful lunch at an ENOTECA she recommended. Great tour and wonderful guide. -The tour will start with you getting picked up in a vehicle from your lodging or an agreed upon meeting point. -We'll then head to the hills around Modena to visit a dairy that produces Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. -On arrival, I'll give you a tour of the cheese factory with a final tasting of 3 kinds of cheeses & ricotta. -Our 2nd stop will be in a nice little factory that produces Modena ham with PDO. -After the tour of the factory with explanations of all stages of production, we will taste this wonderful "prosciutto" with some bread! -Our 3rd visit will be to a traditional balsamic vinegar producer. This production is a family affair in Modena so we'll visit a small family-run business to learn how they produce the real, traditional balsamic vinegar with a final tasting and explanation of recipes to learn how to use it properly! -After these visits, we'd have the chance to stop for lunch in a typical Trattoria in the area, at your care and cost. -At last, you'll be driven back to your lodging.
