Since I was a teenager I have been travelling around Iceland in my free time - and even today that is what I do when I'm on holiday. Iceland is a endless treasure chest - filled with nature, history and geology, plus of course, stories of people, elves and other Icelander's, and there's always something new to see. I love showing people my beautiful country, so working as a tour guide is my dream job. I started working as a tour guide many years ago, around 1990, but just as a side job. However, from the beginning of 2022, I have been doing it full time. I've been working in tourism for many years, teaching in the icelandic guiding schools, working in safety in tourism and in search and rescue. I'm also a bestseller author of books about Iceland, so travelling and tourism have been my life. My favorite thing is to guide people who are interested in our nature, history and geology, and I love to tell people about those things, but also about things that make us Icelanders unique. For example, how is it to live in a country with so many eruptions and earthquakes. How can we live here in winter when we only have a few hours of daylight? Do we really have daylight 24 hours a day in summer? And lets not forget about the elves - do Icelanders believe in elves? I look forward to take you on one of my tours and tell you about what makes Iceland like no other country in the world, and of course, tell you some stories along the way. Who knows - maybe we will add an extra unexpected stop! I am a Licenced Tour Guide in Iceland, and possess a Hiking Guide License too. I also have a Day Tours permit, as well as permit to transport tourists in my own vehicle - LandRover Defender (4 pax) but I also have access to other vehicles for more passengers if needed. Love to make customize tours so don't hesitate to contact me. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Rural Tourism, which further helps me to create good experience for my guests. I have been an active member of Search & Rescue for 35 years, as well as working in search and rescue too, by teaching about safety in Tourism, outdoors, first aid, orienteering and more for many, many years. The Snæfellsnes peninsula is probably the third most popular tour in Iceland, yet so many miss out on it. With fewer tourists and covering less crowded places, this tour gives you the chance to see something very different from what you'd see in the Golden Circle and the South Coast, but still so beatiful in this vast landscape. We will visit the famous Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall, where Kirkjufell mountain (also called Arrowhead mountain) is located. And from there on, you'll experince one stop after another with breathtaking scenery! My mother and both of her parents are from the Snæfellsnes peninsula - just as James Bond was - and I really love to show people this area, taking them to places where most typically scheduled tours dont go. Have you ever driven into a crater before? To be clear, not a active one though - I promise. On this tour we'll also visit the Rauðfeldsgjá canyon, so get ready to get your toes a little wet - maybe bring extra socks - but it's going to be worth it! Customizable itinerary:
·I'd pick you up at your lodging in the morning -ideally around 8am, since we'd have about a 2hour drive to the Snæfellsnes peninsula. On the way there, we'd stop for toilets and to buy something for lunch. There's few restaurants on this route. ·Our 1st stop would be at a viewpoint over the Berserkjahraun lavafield, to stretch our legs & take a look at Selvallafoss waterfall. ·We'd then get to Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall where I'd tell you about the most photographed mountain in Iceland -did someone mention Game of Thrones? ·From here we'd go to 2 craters, taking the stairs to the top of one, driving into the other. ·The Black Beach of Snæfellsnes is so much more dramatic than the most famous one. Among magnificent lava formations, we'd stop for around 45 mins to enjoy the landscape. ·Arnarstapi village would the next stop where we'd hike for about 30 min along the coastline. ·The final stop of the day would be exploring the Rauðfeldsgjá canyon. ·At last, we'd go on a 2, 5 hour drive back to Reykjavik.
