I love being in nature and I have always been fascinated by animals, plants and beautiful landscapes. I also feel the need to share the things I love, especially with those who can appreciate them. And Crete has so many natural beauties to discover! My passion for Crete's beautiful nature led me to work as an eco guide in the magical natural areas of Crete and the Aegean for the past ten years. I have always preferred small and flexible private tours in order to share the real taste of the local nature and culture, taking visitors to the same places where I would take my friends. It is very important to combine sharing knowledge and information while having the nice relaxing time to absorb everything that Cretan nature has to offer. This is your holiday after all, and we all know how important this is! MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare First Aid courses The tours I offer only include visits to places of natural interest, not historical monuments. Weather restrictions: In case of rain (mainly winter and spring) we will find the closest available date for our tour.

The gorge of Palia Roumata is the best option for those who want to enjoy the natural beauty of Chania, away from the crowds, and without the effort needed for more demanding gorges. I like to visit this gorge often with my friends and my elderly dog, as it is easy, shady, with running water most of the year. The natural springs and streams running down the mountain give life to tall plane and oak trees, and olive trees that are more than 1000 years old. You will not find this gorge in most books and guides about Crete. This is because it is well hidden in the heart of Chania, known only by locals and those who want to discover the true nature of Chania. A cold local beer at the nearby brewery is the perfect end to the tour! We can visit the Cretan Brewery in the area of Zounaki where we can also have a look in the production area of one the Crete's finest beers. If you have special requests, or if you are more than 3 people and need a larger vehicle, please contact me to create a customized tour.
From Chania we will drive for an hour though the countryside and small villages(42 km) to Palia Roumata, one of the greenest areas of Chania prefecture, where we will enter the small shady gorge. It will take us a little more than an hour to cross, hiking by the stream where there is running water during most of the year. Depending on the time of year, I will show you the local trees and herbs, used in Cretan cuisine or for therapeutic purposes. We will have time to enjoy the scenery, take pictures, and there is always the option of stopping at the resting areas for a small picnic under the oak trees. After exiting the gorge we will walk for a few more meters to the square of the village where you can have a cold drink or lunch with local dishes and local seasonal ingredients, before heading back to your hotel. If you prefer to learn more about Cretan beer, we will drive to the local small micro brewery to taste one of the best beers that Crete has to offer while seeing the production area.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
We will be using a small, compact car, appropriate for the small village roads we are passing through.
