Our wine and olive oil tasting tour in Chania was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Crete! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional, and our guide, George, truly made it unforgettable. George’s passion for Crete, its culture, history, wine, and olive oil was evident throughout the day. He took us far beyond the typical tourist experience, introducing us to beautiful hidden gems and unique parts of the island that we never would have discovered on our own. Along the way, he made sure we stopped at several breathtaking viewpoints, giving us opportunities to capture stunning photos and take in the incredible scenery. The wine and olive oil tastings were fantastic, offering a wonderful introduction to the flavors and traditions of Crete. Every stop felt authentic, welcoming, and thoughtfully chosen. What really set this tour apart was George himself. His knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm made the entire day enjoyable, engaging, and memorable. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had experienced the real Crete, not just visited it. If you’re visiting Chania and looking for an unforgettable experience, this tour is a must. We cannot recommend it highly enough, and we’re so grateful to George for making our time on the island so special.

It was a great tour guide! Full of fantastic information! We discussed many things about Crete. From military and political history to culinary delights, George was a wealth of information! Our first stop was to an olive oil plant removed to enjoy and understand the quality of olive oil. After, We visited such an amazing winery, completely family owned and run. They gave us a tour of the vineyard itself, which is different than most wine tours that we’ve been on which typically only include tours of the facilities (well still nice. This was so much more personal.) Additionally, the micro brewery was delicious. George’s attention to detail to meet our interest and expectations for the tour was top-notch. He even helped us make a reservation for dinner that night, but a local restaurant in old town! And sent us other information afterwards that we had spoke about.

George is an amazing tour guide and has a very dry sense of humor, which we loved. His knowledge of nature, plant life and the environment is amazing. We learned so much from him about the plant life. The tour we had was very eclectic, with wine, beer and olive oil tasting and lunch at a local restaurant. We first visited an olive oil factory and winery and learned how olive oil is made. We enjoyed a great lunch at a local restaurant, not a typical 'tourist location'. We loved the group shots George took, as he got a great perspective with our group and whatever was in the background. He called them his 'drone shots'. George is 6 foot 6 inches tall and when he puts a camera above his head, it is like a shot from a drone...LOL. George paced our tour based upon our needs and our day passed so quickly as we enjoyed the sights and tastes of Chania.

What a phenomenal Day spent with George! We were able to see and learn so much about the country. Our tour was fun, interesting, and never boring. He made adjustments that were needed due to mobility issues and never acted bothered by any question. His warmth towards the guests and his love for his country shone through. Highly recommended!

George exceeded our expectations. He shared his knowledge of the area and the local culture with clarity and humor. He brought the world together by pointing out differences and similarities with world cultures. When the tour was over, he had become our friend and we hated to say goodbye.
