Hello, my name is Nikol and I am a true Cretan in every sense of the word - I think I embody all the good and the bad things that people from the rest of Greece say about us. What are these? Well I'll tell you in person! :) My name comes from Saint Nikolas, who for us is the patron saint of all seamen. My father was a merchant ship captain and when he was still young and unmarried, his crew came upon a tremendous storm threatening to sink their ship. He then desperately prayed to St Nikolas and promised that if he saved them, he would name his first child after him. And that was me, many years later! That is what Crete is made of - thousands of stories hidden underneath common, everyday things. Wouldn't you like to know them and impress your other friends who may have been to Crete but had no one to tell them what it's all about? Coming to Crete you have chosen a unique, magical destination. Not only because every corner bears the mark of the Roman, the Arab, the Venetian, the Ottoman and the German people who have made this island their home throughout history, but also because the rugged, harsh landscape has shaped our character to match it. Still, we fall in love in delicate iambic verses (imagine short, rhyming, ad lib poems) and we have raised hospitality to a high ideal since antiquity. Yes, this is a land of stark contrasts that will remain hidden in plain sight if you incorrectly believe that a guide book or online encyclopedia can unlock its secrets for you. For this, you will need someone with genuine love for their roots and for people. For this, you will need someone like me! *25 years of experience in the Tourism industry *Degree in Hotel Entertainment *Degree in International Business *Degree & Certification in Tour Guiding by Greek Ministry of Tourism I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver. I can converse in and understand many languages, but the main body of my tours is delivered in English, Greek or Italian.

Lets explore the most beautiful landmarks and secret corners of the biggest Old Town in the island. We will start walking backwards in time from the city centre, to visit the remains of the medieval walls, the Jewish and Venetian quarters, the ruins of ancient Greek monuments and even the prehistoric sites where tragic stories have surfaced. We will stop at the most picture-worthy spots to absorb all the beauty of the town, so you can then impress your friends & followers. This is the city where I was raised so I have a lot of secrets to share that Google can't tell you about. . . it doesn't know in which ruins young couples meet for their first date, or what happens when storms hit the harbour, or where local students go to hide when they skip school! Kindly note that his tour is designed to leave you with enough time & energy to do your local shopping, drinking and lunching or dining. And, however short, it will leave you wanting more, so be ready to book your next trip to Chania by the end of the day!
·Once we've gathered in the Central Market Building, we'll start exploring the area of the borders between the new town & the old town. ·Next, we'll enter into the historical centre, passing by traditional Greek coffee & candy shops, and the oldest kafeneions, as well as the spot where the old Venetian gate used to stand. ·We'll continue in the old town which is mostly car-free, and go through a handmade leather goods street to give you some ideas for your shopping. ·We'll then come out to the central Venetian street that's now full of souvenir & jewellery shops but also some other gems like the central church, the catholic church, and a turkish hamam. ·We will then enter the Jewish quarter and some impressive colourful narrow alleys that are very easy to miss. ·Next, we'll reach the Venetian elite quarter with its proud adorned facades. ·Afterwards, we'll circle various small alleys that are home to old public buildings before getting to the harbour with the Firkas fortress and the nautical museum.
