I'm Zoi , I live in Chania and I' m a teacher. I' ve attended Civil Engineering courses, I studied to become Primary School teacher and recently took my Tour Guide Licence. I speak English and French fluently. I' ve worked in tourism for 5 years. I've recently -due to pandemic period- discovered the hidden beauties of the island I've always lived in. As a mother of two children, a toddler and a pre-adolescent, I experienced the need to find our ways out of it, so we started organising day trips to close destinations, far from the city but also far from the coastline. Though I 'm a local, I had never imagined the variety of hidden landscapes of Crete -I mean except for the well-known and mostly advertised ones! My day trips include 2 to 5 seperate destinations/points of interest, with small driving distances between them, so they might be suitable for people used to a normal physical activity, no matter what their ages are. The trips usually include walking, hiking, sightseeing and swimming. Any trip can be customizable according to your interests and availability. My personal goal through a day trip is to be able to see and experience to the maximum what a full day can provide: nice views, an unforgettable landscape, history and culture of the place and in the end, relaxing around a table with local tastes! No matter if it is very early in the morning in the silence of the city, or during the rush hours among the crowds or even late in the afternoon, just before the sunset, a short or long walking tour in Chania will give you the chance to contact the very ancient, both prehistorical and historical past of the city as well as the most recent history that has led to the unique combination of images, sights and feelings while strolling around. I really believe you will be excited to walk around the neighbourhoods and graphic paths of my everyday life, getting familiar to the pictures and sounds and smells of a very alive place.
Zoi was very Knowledgeable in the history of Crete and very open to our questions. The walking was a good pace with many stops if we needed rest. She was casual in her conversation and did not try to rush through a script. She appears to customize her tours… she made me want to go back to Crete… very good!!!!
Zoi was the perfect guide. She blended all of the history of Chania into one beautiful picture. Plus, she gave us great pointers on shopping and restaurants.
This was a great walking tour of Chania with Zoi! She was friendly and responsive to any questions. She is very knowledgable about Chania and it's history and spoke very well. She even took us to an olive oil and honey tasting which was fun! We enjoyed it very much and will recommend it to our friends!
Zoi was an amazing tour guide! She showed us all the important sites and kept our 9 year old engaged the whole tour. Communication was excellent before we arrived and once we got to Greece! We feel very fortunate she shared her charming village with us!
This walking tour was part of an event we hosted on the island for mental health providers. We asked that our lovely tour guide, Zoi, help us with tailoring the information to that specific focus for these folks. She did a wonderful job pairing the local history, current lifestyle, and more with our mental health lens. She is so knowledgeable and deeply cares about her craft, and it shows. We had such a blast and our participants couldn't stop talking about it. We appreciate Zoi so much and will definitely be back to hang out with her again!
Zoi is a dream tour guide. She not only knows her way around Chania, but she is smart, funny, and just gets what our tour needed and wanted. We had a food tour, while we walked around the city, getting to know Chania well. It was such a delight! So much so, that we booked her again, a few days later! We went to a lovely cheese pie shop, a "grocery store" - where we sampled olive oil, honey, jams, and more, and the farmer's market - where we tried many fruits and vegetables from local vendors. It was such a special day that we won't forget anytime soon, and we owe it all to Zoi.
Our itinerary will be "a travel back to times" tour, beginning from the very recent past and continuing towards the past and the impressive changes that have happened through years. From the contemporary image of the city we will go back to the venetian past, yet, back to the byzantine/ medieval times and finally to the very deeply hidden prehistorical ages of minoan Crete. The tour will include the whole historic and modern city, discovering how the past meets the modern age.
