Hello! My name is Peter, and I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Chania! I have travelled around the world and stayed in the United States where I spent my college years. I have been in the local tourist industry for more than 10 years, having been engaged throughout that time in the hotel business and giving tours to travelers. I am excited to show you the beautiful prefecture of Chania, with its vast natural beauty comprising its gorgeous beaches, astonishing nature and its picturesque villages. Crete is located on the crossroads of civilizations with a strategic position on the Mediterranean Sea, as it is on the pathway from Europe to the Middle East and the Minor Asia. With me you will meet Chania's rich history from the Ancient Ages, to the Medieval Ages at the times of the Byzantine Empire, as well the Venetian occupation succeeded by the Ottoman rule through its Modern history and liberation. We will blend it with its local culture and traditions and how it formed the fascinating Cretan culture. My goal is with my pleasant and cheerful personality show travelers a great time and pass through interesting information, so in the near future they will be eager to visit again or at least be nostalgic of the great experience they had on their tour. From my part I will be more than willing to give recommendations for any tour, even for some travelers who have special requests, to be flexible and adaptive according to their needs. I am always here to help and make sure from every single tour, travelers will have something to remember. Chania, a town on the crossroads of civilizations
Overview of your Chania tour
Chania town is inhabited since the ancient times. Since then it has always been a vivid place of prosperity and growth, influenced by the various invaders and the different cultures which shaped the modern city of Chania. We will drive and around Chania town for 2 hours. Then I will drop you off in the old town for 2 hours to explore it on your own and have lunch. I am not licenced to guide in the town. We could extend the tour for 3 hours and visit a beach and have lunch or drive through Therisso gorge and eat at an amazing restaurant in the mountains. There is also a 40-minute wine tasting option, please contact me for further details.

Our time with Peter was very enjoyable. He did an excellent job of bringing Chania’s Old Town to life for us. We were having such a great time with him we with extended our time with him to a full day. He adjusted the pace of the tour to accommodate our tendencies to wander off. He took us to an excellent authentic Greek restaurant overlooking the Old Venetian Harbor. His English is quite good as he lived in the US for several years and he is very easy to relate to. By the time the tour was over we felt like old friends. We have been on a twenty day tour of multiple locations in Italy and Greece and have taken multiple tours. Our group of eight had the best time with Peter of all the tours.

Your Chania tour itinerary
•Pick up from Souda port or around Chania (10km or 6 miles). •Drive outside Chania town to locations of panoramic view, visit the Commonwealth cemetery and archaeological museum. •Drive inside Chania old town. Stops at the Minoan archaeological site and the Byzantine walls. •Drop off at Chania old town for 2 hours, where you can wander around the alleys, shop or have lunch. I cannot escort you inside the old town due to licence restrictions. •In case you have a special request, I am flexible to schedule the tour according to your needs. There is an option of wine tasting for 40 minutes. •Optional visit to a beach and have lunch or drive in Therisso gorge and the mountains and have lunch. These are 3-hour extensions and there is an extra charge. Please contact me for a custom tour.
