Hello! I am from Chania and have a passion about history, culture and all things alike, from architecture to dances, language and food. As an extension of this passion, I love traveling, and think that getting to know a place's history and its people is what makes each trip a unique experience! One of the things I like most about being a guide is having the chance to meet and interact with other travelers from all over the world at my home town, and help them discover the city and its surroundings in ways that even locals don't know! Chania is a great place to get started, as here you can find monuments from all kinds of eras and rulers that passed through Crete, from Minoan and Mycenean to Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Venetian and Ottoman. Another advantage Chania has in relation to the rest of Crete is its natural beauties (among which 42 gorges and 20 peaks above 2, 000 m), which never cease to amaze and offer something new at every corner! My experience as a guide is mostly related to city tours, but I can also organize half or full day tours in the beautiful countryside of Chania. In any case, I can customize my tours according to your requests and interests. Join me and enjoy a unique insight to Cretan culture and history! - PhD in History (specializing in Cretan history) - MA in International Relations - First Degree on Turkish Studies - Driving license -Due to government regulations, I will not able to guide you inside official archeological sites.

We'll start from Chania or Souda and head to the ancient city of Aptera, first mentioned on Linear B tablets dating back to 1400 BC. The city thrived during the Minoan, Mycenean, Classical Greek and Hellenistic periods, while the Ottomans built next to it an imposing fort named Subashi, which enjoys great views over the Bay of Souda and Apokoronas. From there we'll head to Stilos and the twin Byzantine church of St Nicolas & St John, built in the 10th century. Then we can have a pit-stop for coffee or local soft drinks by some water springs, or stop at a place where you can try local ice cream made from sheep milk. Then, we will head to the monastery of St George in Karydi and visit its impressive olive factory, and continue on to Vamos for lunch and a walk around its picturesque Old Quarter. On our way back to Chania we could stop en route at an olive factory, in order to learn more about its harvest, products and benefits. Join me on this great tour of Apokoronas!

We choose a tour of small villages and the visit to Crete was outstanding. Georgio has a vast range of knowledge about the history of Crete and this region of the world in general. His English is excellent and he is very flexible regarding the itinerary. I cannot imagine a more pleasant guide for an enjoying and informative day on Crete.
George provided a fantastic day for us. His passion and knowledge of the history, customs and culture were unsurpassed. When I expressed an interest in Cretes history in WWII, he explained it in detail. At the end of the tour, he deviated to the WWII war cemetery. We made a pit stop for local ice cream and my husband thought it was the best he’d ever had. The taverna for lunch was special. Very local and authentic. And yes, the olive oil production facility was definitely worth the stop. We would highly recommend this tour with George.
George is a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable, personable, and flexible. One of the best tours we have ever had. We strongly recommend this tour,
Giorgio's was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and explained the history of the sites really well. He also was able to answer all the questions we peppered him with. We very much enjoyed our 6 hours learning Greek history. The highlight was lovely lunch at Heliostasi, with our table under the trees overlooking the valley below. Highly recommend Giorgios!
We enjoyed a wonderful day in Crete. Georgios was outstanding in terms of customizing our tour to our interests and taking us to such interesting places, especially those off the touristy path. He is so knowledgeable and well educated in the history of the Greece and shared his vast experience with Cretan specific culture and food. We had an excellent day and having Georgios as our guide really added to the experience. Highly recommend!
