Born and raised in Chania, spent 10 years in the UK, studied modern history, did two MAs and worked for Marriott hotels as a manager for 4 years. I work in tourism for more than 25 years and since 2006 I manage a small family hotel and offer private tours to various locations. Overview of your Chania tour

Chania since the ancient times was a melting pot of civilizations and cultures, each invader leaving its mark on history, architecture and culture. Chania is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe dating back to Minoan civilization. As a local, I know this place intimately and love sharing the knowledge. In this tour we will drive around the city and visit various sites for 2 hours, and for 2 hours more you could wander around the picturesque alleys on your own and have lunch. Will explain the history, culture and traditions and how they formed the modern day city of Chania. I am not allowed to walk or guide in the old town due to license restrictions. You can extend the tour for no extra cost to visit the archaeology museum, do wine tasting or just spend more time in Chania old town. For a small extra cost you could extend the tour for 3 hours and visit either a beach and have lunch or drive through a gorge and eat at a mountain restaurant.

George was AMAZING!! Unbelievably knowledgeable. George was beyond helpful with accommodating our family with small children and made the tour fun and educational for them! The communication was flawless, the vehicle was clean and comfortable. George will be utilized again on our next trip to the area. He went out of his way to take us to a local farmers market where we bought local fruit for the kids to try and also local honey we took home. We highly recommend using him or any of the services he offers!

Your Chania tour itinerary

•Pick up at Souda port or your accommodation in Chania (radius 10km or 6 miles). •Commonwealth Cemetery. •Venizelos Graves. Enjoy panoramic view of Chania town. •Optional stop at the archaeological museum for 30 minutes •Drive inside Chania old town. Stops at the archaeological site and the Byzantine walls. •Drive outside Chania old town alongside the Venetian walls and moat. •Drop off next to Chania old town. I cannot escort you inside the old town, so you can wander around on your own for 2 hours or more for shopping and lunch. •Optional wine tasting during week days. We need to make a reservation in advance. •Optional visit to nearby Agii Apostoli beach for a swim and lunch for 3 hours for a small extra charge •Optional drive through Therisso gorge and have lunch in the mountains. It’s a 3-hour extension. Everything is locally produced and cooked in a wood stove. There is a small extra charge.
