Hello! I am from Chania and have a passion about history, culture and all things alike, from architecture to dances, language and food. As an extension of this passion, I love traveling, and think that getting to know a place's history and its people is what makes each trip a unique experience! One of the things I like most about being a guide is having the chance to meet and interact with other travelers from all over the world at my home town, and help them discover the city and its surroundings in ways that even locals don't know! Chania is a great place to get started, as here you can find monuments from all kinds of eras and rulers that passed through Crete, from Minoan and Mycenean to Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Venetian and Ottoman. Another advantage Chania has in relation to the rest of Crete is its natural beauties (among which 42 gorges and 20 peaks above 2, 000 m), which never cease to amaze and offer something new at every corner! My experience as a guide is mostly related to city tours, but I can also organize half or full day tours in the beautiful countryside of Chania. In any case, I can customize my tours according to your requests and interests. Join me and enjoy a unique insight to Cretan culture and history! - PhD in History (specializing in Cretan history) - MA in International Relations - First Degree on Turkish Studies - Driving license -Due to government regulations, I will not able to guide you inside official archeological sites.

I will pick you up from Souda port (or Chania) and we'll head to the German Military Cemetery on Hill 107 in Maleme, where one of the most important battles of the Battle of Crete took place in 20-21 May 1941. Then we'll visit a German underground shelter in Platanias, and a private collection of military equipment and memorabilia in Galatas, where the owner will share with us stories about how a lot of that was used and how he found it. Then we'll continue on to the Allied Cemetery in Souda, the final resting place for thousands of men from British Dominions (Australia, Canada, NZ, South Africa) and other Commonwealth countries. If we have time left, we will also visit 42nd Street, a crossroads near Souda where the Maoris pushed back the Germans on May 27th 1941. Join me on this promising overview of the main battlefields of WWII in western Crete!
