Hello, my name is Jason and the condensed story is that I grew up in the middle of the US (central Illinois), studied history and married a German. My first trip to Europe was in 1997. I spent three years teaching in the US and then finished writing my M. A. in History in Germany. I started working as a tour guide about 15 years ago for companies in Munich as well as directly for the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial site. My wife is originally from the Nuremberg area and I explored the city in my free time on our holidays and weekends there. The more I got to know the city, the better I liked it. Although the Third Reich sites and courthouse are the initial draw for some people, the city has a thousand years of fascinating history, fantastic Gothic architecture, welcoming people and a bit of an independent streak that I could identify with. I'd be happy to help you explore these places with a walking tour. Please note that I do not offer driving tours, food tours or shopping tours. Jason E. Certified by the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial M.A. in History from Illinois State University

100 miles north of Munich, Nuremberg presents a very different side of Germany. While the city is infamous for the Nazi Rallys and Nuremberg Trials, the picturesque walled Old Town offers a fascinating mix of medieval and modern. From Gothic churches to the 20th century, we can focus on whatever side of Nuremberg interests you most. Or, if you're more interested in local cuisine, I can show you where to get the most traditional Nuremberg sausages, gingerbread cookies, or the local red lager beer (Rotbier). First class train tickets for the direct regional express train are included in the tour price!
The tour is very flexible. The direct regional express train from Munich takes around 1.5 hours. Once in Nuremberg, we have time to take a quick look at all three areas (Courthouse, Old Town, Rally Grounds), see two out of the three areas with a short lunch break, or just see how it goes if you want to stay flexible. Please be aware that Nuremberg is a city of 500,000 and that the courthouse is on the opposite side of the city from the rally grounds so there is some travel time involved in the city as well. Any public transport we use in Nuremberg is included in the tour price.
