Hello, and welcome to Munich! After living in Munich for more than 20 years I decided to turn my passion for history (and stories) into my new profession. So I started the training to become an official licensed tour guide in Munich and after some blood, sweat and tears finally got the license to guide guests in my most favorite city in Germany. Most surprising for me was, that even though I knew most of the sites and had seen them regularly, I hadn't understood what those buildings or paintings meant, because I hadn't known the history behind it. For several years now, I love to show this city with all the highlights and hidden gems, the architecture and the novelties - and the story and history behind it. We were 5 people just arrived from the US. Jet-lagged but eager to have a reason to stay awake. Marion was very patient with us. The Wittelsbach family lived and ruled here, and they determined Bavaria's history for more than 700 years. - Odeonsplatz, where Munich ended until 200 years ago. Here we will also talk about the importance of the square during the Hitler Putsch in 1923 and after 1933. - The Five Courts, an example of contemporary architecture developed by the famous Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron - The Frauenkirche is the city's oldest landmark and still plays an important role in today's city planning
