Dear Traveler, my name is Lucía. I grew up in Madrid, the capital of Spain, surrounded by family from many parts of the world: my paternal grandparents from the Canary Islands and the south of the Spanish peninsula, and my maternal grandparents from Germany and Austria, who met as a result of the Second World War. The economic situation in Spain 15 years ago made me want to finish my studies in Germany. I graduated in Art, Design and Photography in Munich, where I've been working as a tour guide for 14 years, showing people all over Bavaria and Austria. In 2012, I became an official licensed tour guide at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, a subject that has always interested me due to my family history. During the pandemic I returned to the world of photography and design, working in a marketing agency, but it became very clear to me that my thing was contact with people, helping them to know better the city where I live and collaborating with the historical memory of a tragic period in the history of humanity from which we must learn, so when the pandemic ended I returned to tourism and decided to focus on the history of the Second World War. As far as my tours are concerned, in this world where everything goes very fast and there is a constant overload of stimuli, I think it is important to take a break and see and understand things calmly. That is why I like to explore the city of Munich as well as historically charged places like Dachau in a calm and empathic way. If you also enjoy exploring things at a slower pace and from a deeper, less superficial perspective - avoiding the typical highlights found in every guidebook or website - I would love to show you around the capital of Bavaria and its historical landmarks!

Dachau was the first Nazi concentration camp, established in 1933 as a model for the repressive system of the Third Reich. Over 200,000 people were imprisoned here, enduring inhumane conditions, forced labor, and death. More than 41,500 people lost their lives at this site. Visiting this place is an act of remembrance, an encounter with history, and an opportunity to understand why it remains significant today. For over a decade, I have been guiding visitors through this memorial with deep respect and commitment. This history is not just something I have studied, it is something that has shaped my own family’s past. My tours focus on historical accuracy, providing a thorough understanding of the events that took place and their lasting impact. Dachau is a site that demands thoughtful exploration. If you are looking for a tour with historical depth and context, I would be glad to guide you.
The tour begins at your hotel or any preferred location within Munich city. During the comfortable 45-minute drive to the Dachau Memorial Site, I will introduce the historical background of the camp. As a certified Dachau guide, I’ll help you understand the history behind each of the following original camp areas on a 2–3 hour walking tour on site: • The Jourhaus (Main Gate) • The Roll Call Square • The administration building • The International Monument • The barrack • The former crematorium and mass grave area Since most of the tour is on foot, wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the weather. There are limited shelters, so bring waterproof clothing and an umbrella if it rains. In summer, don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and water. In winter, dress warmly as temperatures at the memorial can be quite cold and windy. If you'd like to spend more time at the memorial, feel free to contact me. I can customize the tour to your needs. *Participants must be at least 13 years old.
