Best of Tegernsee Hike – Day Tour from Munich

This tour truly gives you the best of Tegernsee. A mountain river leads us up the slopes from the village of Tegernsee. After a 2 hour ascent, we'll reach a rocky little summit with a cute chapel where amazing vistas over the mountains of the Mangfallgebirge and the lake await. A short descent brings us to a mountain chalet where we'll enjoy a well-earned Bavarian lunch (on Tuesdays, we have lunch at a local brewery). Replenished, we head back via a panoramic path above the lake that eventually leads us to the shores of lake Tegernsee. I love this rather challenging tour for its natural variety and stories. The nearby mountains were home of the proud Bavarian "Brandner Kaspar" who tricked death by playing cards with him. And you'll also find out how crafty locals would identify a human skull in the 19th century - long before DNA analyses were available. Available from mid-April to the end of October.

Short Facts: - Mid-level Hike - Hiking Distance: 11 km - Hiking Time: 4 hours - Elevation Gain: 470 m Itinerary: - We will meet at Munich Central Train Station to embark on a scenic train ride. - After an hour, we will reach our destination Tegernsee. - We will start uphill along a river to a small summit with a chapel. - A short descent later, we will reach our lunch destination: a local chalet with traditional Bavarian food. - Replenished, we will continue our tour with panoramic vistas of the lake down to the shore. - Return to Munich by train (1 hour). Fitness and Equipment: - You should have a good fitness level and no health concerns. - Please make sure to wear layered clothes (to shed as necessary) and sturdy walking shoes with a good profile / grip. - Bring sunglasses, a hat, water (1. 5 to 2 litres per person) and an ID for the train.
