I am a 48 year old journalist and author who live near Copenhagen with my wife Maya and my seven year old daughter Esther. I am talkative, have a keen eye for the great story and have a lot of humour - even when the subjects are serious. As a guide I have great knowledge of the chosen subjects and a lot of experience in making you feel comfortable, smart and entertained. I have written a couple of books - one about cemeteries and one about second world war - and have given hundreds of lectures and tours. I offer tours on historical subjects with an eye for the telling details without missing the great picture. My subjects right now is: - Death and drama in Copenhagen, a collection of stories about dramatic events througout history and how they shaped the city and the nation. - The Nazi occupation, where I tell about the German invasion and the five years that followed - from the resque of the Danish jews, the resistance movement and the politicians who worked to keep Denmark save and to the Danish nazi, the German terror and the victims of the oppression. - Assistens Cemetery, a cemetery that is also a park and resting place for Hans Christian Andersen, Niels Bohr, Søren Kierkegaard and a lot of other famous and lesser known Danes. - Bispebjerg Cemetery - the German occupation and second world war as told through the graves on the cemetery. - Dragør - a small sailing village close to Copenhagen, known for it's beautiful yellow houses, which are on the Danish UNESCO tentative list. - Store Magleby and the Dutch. A walking tour of my new hometown 10 kilometres from Copenhagen. The history of Store Magleby is unique - it was founded by Dutch settlers 500 years ago, and their influence is still visible in the area. All my tours can of cause be customized, and if you are interested in another historical subject, just ask! I look forward to showing you my great city! I am a trained journalist who mainly works with history and have been guiding for about seven years. I am very experienced in giving lectures all over Denmark. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver at your expense. However, Copenhagen, Dragør and Store Magleby are best experienced by foot.

Welcome to Copenhagen! Join me on the busy streets and quiet alleys as we delve into the captivating history and culture of this old city. On our four-hour tour you will be able to experience the many sides of Copenhagen - from Amalienborg Castle, the residence of the queen and to the small, idyllic and centuries old streets that once were slums but today are local treasures. If we time it right, we might catch the impressive changing of the guards ceremony at Amalienborg, before we meet the bustling waterfront of Nyhavn. Surprisingly, despite its proximity to notable landmarks like the Royal Palace, The National Theatre, and the luxurious Hotel D'Angleterre, this area was once considered unsuitable for respectable company until just a few decades ago. Our journey will also include a visit to the Parliament building, where we may enjoy panoramic views of the city if the line for the tower's platform isn't too lengthy - and of course lots of other stops!
Here are some of the stops - City Hall with it's large square that has been and still are a centre of both celebrations and demonstrations - Tivoli Gardens - from the outside: Hear the story about the amusement park that was build to quell the citizens thirst for democracy, was partly destroyed by Nazi terror and later inspired Walt Disney to build Disney Land - Christiansborg - our parliament and old royal residence - Stork Fountain - a beautiful art nuveau fountain that somehow became a gathering spot for the hippie movement - Royal Theatre - our national stage situated in a beautiful building at an impressing city square - Nyhavn - beautiful, but with a sordid past - Amalienborg - the royal castle, which was never meant to house the royal family - Marmorkirken - a church that almost ruined the king, when he tried to make a protestant competitor to the vatican And of course all the beautiful buildings, smalle streets and the vibrant street life of Copenhagen
